"All perfect except no gym! Not right for sucha standing hotel"

"I loved my stay at the Brae. It was the perfect place to get over jet lag as I embarked on a one-month vacation of the U.K. It’s a couple of miles outside of town, and the bus to downtown stops right in front of the house, which was perfect. Very comfortable for sleeping. Having a bath tub to soak in after a day full of walking was heaven. Graeme was an extremely welcoming and informative host. Definitely recommend t He Stay at the Brae."

"Lovely restored house in a neighborhood (more like a B&B). There is a bus that runs into Edinburgh proper or you can take the mile walk. The hotel gives very good recommendations for local dining. Parking can be difficult (limited on-street parking for non-residents). No eating in the rooms."

The first room's bathroom was down a winding staircase from the bedroom. The room itself was very tiny. Because I have arthritis in my leg, I requested a different room. The staff deserve praise for their helpfulness and friendliness in helping me switch rooms. The second room was larger and bathroom was in the same room (the good). "Lovely ground floor room , with great amenities. Fantastic welcome from Allessio on the reception desk, he couldn’t have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble. My only concern was there was no rubber mat in the shower and I found the floor very slippery."

"The Abbey Residence has a rooming house feel. We had a spacious room with large but dated ensuite. The walls could use a lick of paint, but there were no real issues with the room. Wifi was good and our room had a good sized Roku based smart TV with lots of streaming options. Parking in central Edinburgh is hard so leave your car at the Abbey Residence and catch the bus into town from the bus stop just across the road. "We had to check in late as our train was delayed. Unfortunately the guest house is not staffed after 11:30pm. So we had to pay extra for a late check in. The staff wasn’t friendly or welcoming. He was instead racist as he was asking where we were from and when we informed him he said no wonder. I wondered what that statement meant. The room was quite dusty.
