As soon as you step inside, you'll be greeted by an expansive greenhouse that offers unobstructed views of New Mexico's breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. And with minimal light pollution, you'll have the opportunity to gaze at the stars like never before.

    The Earthship's ecosystem has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate a range of plants that thrive in its optimal conditions. You'll be able to spot a range of species, including tomatillos, aloe vera, and even a fig tree! The Encounter is also completely off-the-grid, which means it utilizes solar panels to collect energy from the hot New Mexico sun to power the entire home. Filtered snowmelt and rainwater is used for home use, so you'll be able to enjoy a sustainable and eco-friendly stay.

    The Encounter is equipped with all the modern amenities you need, including wifi and a smart TV, all without sacrificing the Earthship's eco-friendly principles. The home also has a propane stove and fridge in the kitchen, perfect for guests who want to cook during their stay. This was an amazing experience and would definitely repeat if we’re ever back in the Taos area. Beautiful scenery and a place to live where you really get a feel for living closer to nature and its rhythms. The house stayed a very comfortable temperature the whole time, and everything worked as they should! The main bedroom’s bed was very comfortable as well! Loved the plants in the front room and really contributed to the feeling of the place being alive. You’re about 30 minutes or less from Taos which was really fun to explore as well as other things a little further away. Thanks for a memorable stay!

A great experience!

We had a fantastic stay. It was a great experience for our kids. Our host was extremely helpful and responsive. This is a rental we will remember for a long time!

We really enjoyed staying here. I’ve always wanted to visit an Earthship, and this one did not disappoint. The host reached out to us regularly to make sure there weren’t any issues.

This was our first earthship experience and i can definitely say we will be doing it again! They stay was amazing, location was great, and we had such a lovely experience. Absolutely a 10/10.

This was our first experience being totally off grid so we weren’t sure what to expect. There is everything you need. Full kitchen for food prep and storage (no microwave and it did take some trial and error making French press coffee), plenty of hot water for cleanup and showers, very comfortable and quiet inside. We didn’t mess with heating or cooling and it was a little cool inside, but we like it that way. The setting is beautiful with a remote feel to it yet very convenient for touring the area. The hosts were very responsive to all our questions. A stop at the visitor center is well worth it to understand what this community and its structures are all about.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was as described. It’s always been a dream of ours sustain on earth ship. It was neat to see the vegetation growing so strong. We really enjoyed the view of the desert sky and the mountains in the background. The house maintained a decent temperature without heating. The Internet was fast. Everything was clean. Host communicated well. Thank you!

Taos Family Earthship

Our experience was amazing. We enjoyed the cozy kitchen and the beautiful greenhouse. Although it was unseasonably chilly, there were enough blankets for all of us to feel comfortable. We would definitely come back.

Amazing Retreat

The earthship was incredible and fascinating - and even had a luxury vibe. Amazing views of the sunrise, and we even got to see the full moon rise on July 3rd which was amazing. Perfect balance of seclusion while still having access to all your favorite 21st century amenities. Would definitely stay again!!

September Taos Earthship Retreat

Wonderful Experience

We had a wonderful time at this earthship! The hosts were responsive, and the eco-house was so cool with its environmentally friendly systems. We are from Canada, so the desert was a real experience (although we only looked from afar). The views were incredible. Thank you!

Great Stay away from town

Had a great stay at the Stargazing Earthship Retreat. The house was clean, the check out instructions were clear and not onerous. The property was quiet and slept myself and my two daughters comfortably. Very close to the gorge and town was just a bit further. The heating/cooling system took a bit to figure out, but was described in the online house documentation. Would stay again!
