Booking this property was easy enough. However, once we received the check in instructions, we were asked to pay an additional deposit to “Chicago Daily Rentals” under the email address of duboischicago@gmail.com. When I looked up this address, there were comments about fraud. As we were driving down from Canada to support our daughter in the Chicago Marathon, hotels were booked solid or being offered at outrages nightly fees. We sent the money and photo ID and hoped for the best. We received an email confirming the PayPal amount had gone through and instructions on how to enter the property as it was a self-check in. When we got to our room where the key was in the door as indicated, the bed had not been changed and there were wet towels on the floor. We were extremely disappointed and frustrated. After driving 10 hours we wanted to shower and catch a nap before dinner. We called and had a challenging conversation with the man who answered. We had to go out right away so we left our belongings and hoped for the best. When we returned later that evening, the sheets had been changed and clean towels were available. The property itself is very clean and nicely appointed while the shared bathroom is modern and bright. It was a disappointing process and while they sent us the standard note of apology, it doesn’t change the fact that we could not use what we were paying for upon check in. We felt we wasted our money on the first day.
