"We loved our stay at The Old Town Chambers in Edinburgh. Centrally located on the Royal Mile, it's directly across from the beautiful St. Giles Cathedral. Superb for sightseeing and walking! Housekeeping serviced the room every day. It was clean and bright (with three huge windows)! "No staff, which is fine with me. Easy entry, spacious, clean, excellent location. Apartment basically with good view of the Christmas market. One note on the Attic Flat, have light luggage and be pretty fit. No lift and impressive staircase to get in. Was excellent."

"The breakfast menu/buffet was excellent and had all the options, full Scottish breakfast (yum!), pastries, cereal, yogurt, etc. Coffee was delicious and plentiful! The room was large and very comfortable. Very quiet too, so slept very well, ready to sightsee the next morning. The staff were super helpful with providing info. "

"I highly recommended this place to people who wants a night-in in Edinburgh. The place is clean, and the room we got was huge and very lovely. "Die kleine Wohnung liegt inmitten der Altstadt, die Victoriastreet und das Castle sind gleich um die Ecke. Bei geschlossenen Fenstern hört man nichts vom Verkehr auf den Straßen. Die Wohnung ist zwar klein, aber mit zwei Schlafzimmern und einem Wohnzimmer mit Pantryküche (plus schönem Duschbad), kommt man gut zurecht. Eine Bushaltestelle der Linienbusse ist direkt vor dem Haus, eine Ghostbustour startet auch dort. "

Bakehouse Close © Paul Cunningham-Edinburgh Photo Guy Bakehouse Close, Canongate on Edinburgh's Royal Mile is one of my favourite closes, because it's so well preserved. Edinburgh Heritage have documents from the 1700's with all the names of the people that lived in the historic close, including Lord Adam Gordon; David Doig, merchant; William Dunbar, weaver and Ewen. Visiting here gives a good impression of what living in the old city must have been like.
