We live in Aruba, we have traveled to Curacao many times over. We were looking for a secluded property to spend our 25th anniversary.Location and privacy is over 5 stars, this is exactly what we were looking for. However, the description and the amenities fall short of this secluded property.The unit is basically a small one bedroom studio, with open concept floor plan. There is no cooking exhaust hut, kitchen appliances are also old and run down,all the cooking fumes and odors spread out all the way to the sleeping area. It is unbearably hot to cook in the kitchen. When it is time to turn in and switch the AC on, it takes forever to cool down the room to acceptable temperature.It reads the AC unit cools down the room fast, it is an old unit, and it really struggles to cool down the room within at least 2 hours. We learned this the hard way on our first night.If you want privacy, an exceptional view and eat out for all your meals, then this is the place for you.We wanted to stay there as much as possible, cooking included and that did not work out for us...

Wow.. wow.. wow!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Don's cottages in Cas Abou. This was the perfect location to stay in Curacao to be able to explore he whole island for the week. We woke up every morning in a comfy bed with spectacular views right from the (optional open air) bedroom. Relaxed on the cliff side patio to enjoy the stars at night. Hung out with super cool wildlife right on the porch (iguanas, smaller lizards, exotic birds, And hermit crabs at night!) They have gorgeous art work, decor, corals, and succulents all over each of their cottages for eye candy. A kick ass plunge pool, outdoor shower and the private access to our own little hidden beach was a mega plus. Everyday we floated around in the cove and used the house gear to snorkel all around the house reef. We swam/snorkeled around the corner to the gorgeous Cas Abou beach and over to Playa Largo exploring some of the coolest and healthiest reefs and fish ever!!!! Besides the kickass accomodations... The highlight of staying with our Super Hosts Don and Angie were that they are the coolest people ever! They were always available via email/Whatsapp, and provided us with a wealth of information and recommendations for living it up in Curacao. This place and our hosts did not disappoint, worth every penny.

The property at Cas Cielo is truly one of a kind. The privacy, charm, and proximity to the ocean and beach are second to none. Don was a fantastic host, alongside Angie. He made himself available to answer questions and provided an extensive curated list of recommendations that included everything from directions and markets, to snorkel hotspots and the best local eateries. The property was extremely comfortable with all the necessary amenities, every kitchen appliance, a quality grill, firm bed, an indoor and outdoor fan, and much more. There were even coolers and beach equipment! You can tell that Don has placed a lot of care into building out this private oasis over the course of his ownership. Would absolutely come back!

We’ve been renting vacation homes for over 15 years, and Casa Cielo is easily one of the most amazing we’ve ever stayed in. I’ll admit, I had a few concerns going in — I wasn’t sure if the house or pool would be big enough, if the pool would be too warm, or if it might feel too far from things to do. But every single worry melted away the moment we arrived.The house is private, peaceful, and thoughtfully laid out. The pool was the perfect size and temperature, and the whole property felt safe and secluded — just what we needed. Don and Angie, the house managers, were kind, helpful, and incredibly responsive throughout our stay.If you're on the fence, don’t be. Casa Cielo is a gem — we’re already dreaming of coming back.

Sunset paradise on the turquoise sea

Of all the places I stayed over many many years of travel this cottage is the most beautiful, the most serene, the most private. You know that scene at the end of Ocean’s Eleven where the crew is gazing at the fountain outside of the Bellagio and they’re just collectively exhaling and being in the moment? This place is a lot like that, but with a Caribbean backdrop instead of Vegas. Visit it; cook, drink a little too much, get a sunburn, snorkel with the fishies. It might just be the best time of your life.

40th Birthday Getaway!

Breath taking views and endless ocean life! If you are looking to truly unplug from the daily grand, then Cas Cielo at Cas Abou is THE place for you. This property had everything we needed to have a quiet, relaxing, romantic week away. By far my best birthday yet! We will definitely be return guests. Thank you for the memories!

Just Awesome!!

This was a fabulous vacation. The property was incredible. We have never seen an ocean so calm and water so clear, and all of it right outside your back door. Very safe, and the people were very nice. We did our Scuba Diving on the reef just beyond the cottage. We spent so much time in the plunge pool just enjoying the ocean view. The stars we saw at night from the pool were mind-blowing. Don was the best, the information packet he gave is the most comprehensive I have seen. Every restaurant he recommended had great food and service. We are already planning our next trip back to Curacao and we will be staying at one of Don's places for sure.

Beautiful Getaway

We loved our trip to curaçao! There is a million dollar view from the deck of cas cielo which is truly amazing! The short path from the deck to the beach allows for a quick dip in the sea or a prolonged snorkel around the corner to the lovely beach at cas abou. Seaside Don who operates the cottage is very easy to work with, communicates well, and sends very good info regarding island activities while you are there including snorkeling, restaurants, and hiking. The kitchen is well equipped. For food but especially wine I would drive the 25 minutes to the Carrefour as they have just about everything you will need to drink from white burgundies to Rhones to Bordeaux. We also purchased fresh fish on the roadside which was delicious. I would also mention to birdwatchers that it is easy to see lots of wild flamingos in curaçao (most near Jan Kok) but also many bird species right there on the deck of cas cielo. What a great stay! And don’t forget to do a little cliff jumping at westpunt…

Pictures do not do it justice!

This place is the Heaven on Earth! The pictures and videos shared online do not do it justice! A true gem to reconnect with each other and embrace the unique nature around you. Don and Angie were exemplary hosts who always responded very quickly and shared any information we needed in great detail. They were very friendly and helpful. The house is very private, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Everything was as advertised and better than expected. The stunning private beach, heavenly scenery, as well as the close proximity (5 minute drive or so) to Cas Abao - the most beautiful beach we found on the island - makes it an unmatched location. If you want to have a unique stay which you may not find anywhere else on Earth, do not look further.

Wonderful Seaside Stay

My husband and I traveled to Curaçao to celebrate my birthday. We had a wonderful stay at Don's bungalow along the sea. We were in regular communication with Don, our host, which was an added comfort. The place was as expected, secluded, quiet and breathtaking views which included daily sunsets. We enjoyed everything about the property, including the artistic flare, landscaping, pool and friendly iguanas.

A spectacular place for couples!

What a love place! A very private, beautiful and safe place to be. This space has everything we needed and more. The photos and videos posted does not do it justice. We particularly loved watching the sunset from the porch at dinner. Most nights we had the door open to hear the ocean while we’re still awake. The moon and the stars show at night were beautiful! The outside shower was a beautiful touch, we used it throughout our stay. The privacy you get from this cottage was unmatched. A private beach below is beautiful, we snorkeled from that point all the way to Cas Abou beach. Then to the right from the cottage is one fantastic snorkeling site we very much enjoyed, we went twice all the way to the point. We didn’t see anybody else there which made it so much special. There’s a plunge pool out front which we utilized a couple of times, it’s nice and cool. The couple of seating area in front of the pool was one of my favorite spots to have my drink at sunset. Incredible sunset views! Everything about this place suited our outdoorsy lifestyle. There were a lot of birds, lizards and we even saw and iguana perch on the tree. With warm weather, comes mosquitoes… we burnt about 5 citronella whenever we’re home and also applied bug spray. It helped a lot. Not the cottage’s fault it’s just reality in a tropical setting. We stayed 8 nights and cooked dinner at home 4 of those nights. Fish from the local fishermen was easily acquired. Don and Angie were super hosts, ask them anything they’re there to answer your questions. Very highly recommended! In fact if we ever go back to Curaçao we will stay at this cottage or another cottage they host. Thank you so much for all the memories.

Better than a resort hotel

Selecting a location for our 20th anniversary, we really wanted to avoid the typical resort crowds, be able to snorkel/dive with as little hassle as possible, but also have proximity to dining and entertainment when desired. Cas Abou was everything we could have asked for. As soon as we got to the property we knew we'd made the right choice. From the amazing views and privacy, to being able to walk 50ft right into the ocean you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Being able to wake up in the morning, have breakfast outside enjoying the ocean views (all the while feeding wild iguanas that stop by to visit) and just walk down into the ocean was amazing. With no local crowd, the volume of localized coral remains undamaged which in turn means plenty of fish, octopus, etc. to see when snorkeling. Anytime we wanted a break, it was a short walk back to the cottage for a bite to eat or a quick (15-20 minute) drive to a restaurant if we didn't want to cook. From St Thomas to the Bahamas to locations throughout Mexico, we've never stayed at a location that was as welcoming, enjoyable and relaxing.

Paradise

Don and Angie have created something truly special here. The cliff top views are breathtaking. The plunge pool was perfect to relax in. The outdoor shower was a nice touch. Our favorite parts of our stay were taking a hike with Angie and snorkeling to Cas Abao beach! 10/10 would recommend.

Paradise

Bad Electrical Panel - No Electricity or Hot Water

Bottom line is that there is an abundance of beautiful properties on Curacao and we would not recommend anyone renting a property through this owner. First, the kitchen was not clean with the refrigerator, microwave and inside cabinet drawers all dirty with food crumbs and spills. This was a minor issue compared to not having electricity or hot water for a combined total of 24 hours. The owner's response was to advise us to sleep outside. He offered no concessions as a result of our experience and refused to refund us one night stay. The loss of electricity and hot water disrupted our vacation and our peace of mind during our stay for significant periods of time on the nights of Tuesday, 1/18 (several hours until my husband was able to reset the breaker after the owner tried to do so) and Thursday 1/20 (all night). We got fewer than 3 hours of sleep on Thursday night. This is because the lack of electricity meant no air conditioning and no fan were available. With overnight low temperatures near 80 degrees, it remained hot and uncomfortable in the house, even with all the windows wide open and the sliding doors fully opened. Sleeping outside was attempted briefly, but it quickly became clear this wasn't an option unless we wanted to get eaten up by mosquitos. A smaller, but not insignificant added stress was the fact that we had perishables in the refrigerator and freezer and didn't know when/if power would be restored to preserve them. The owner sent an electrician on the afternoon of 1/19 to replace a breaker and offered to send him back to do additional upgrades (before the all-night outage). We asked the owner not to do this during our stay because we understood that the 1/19 repair to one section of the breaker panel would be enough to keep the electricity running while we were there and because we wanted to minimize additional interpersonal contacts (due to Covid). Had the owner told us, "Well, I can't guarantee it won't shut down again" we would have certainly consented to a proactive electrician follow up visit. The fact the owner gave instructions to guests (in the on-site printed guide) to refrain from running the A/C, fan, water heater, and microwave at the same time tells us he knew the electrical panel was in need of an upgrade. (We never ran all those items at once). The owner was pleasant, until there were issues with the property giving the impression he was more put out than we were as a result.

Paradise

Cielo was the most unique and beautiful place that we’ve ever stayed at in the Caribbean. It’s a great place to unwind and recharge. The views are incredible at every direction. We really enjoyed the outdoor shower area and different sitting areas. We rented Don and Angie’s kayaks for 2 days and had the best time kayaking to the local beaches from Cielo. We also enjoyed all of the local restaurants suggested by Don and Angie. Don and Angie were both so nice and made you feel welcome. Do yourself a favor and experience Cielo for yourself!!
