Whether you’re coming to play at Sandbanks’ beaches, explore wineries, historic landmarks and other County attractions, or simply stroll along the tree-lined Main Street of Wellington to discover its charm and take in the fresh lakeside air, Main Street Cottage is the perfect base for your vacation in the County. We are open year-round.

Main Street Cottage is a distinctive 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Cape Cod style century home in the heart of Wellington. Opened in the summer of 2014, this newly renovated and newly furnished 2-story house features all modern amenities blended with plenty of old character for enjoyment in all four seasons. Relax in the casual elegance of the living and dining rooms as you plan and recount your days in the County. The enclosed sun porch as well as a bench in the front yard offer great spaces to greet neighbours and watch the world go by along the charming Main Street.

Ideally situated to take advantage of what the County has to offer, the picturesque village of Wellington with its gorgeous views of Lake Ontario is home to local studios and galleries, restaurants, heritage architecture and museum, a boardwalk, lighthouse, marina, lakefront playground and public library, all within walking distance of Main Street Cottage. The Main Street also houses several local amenities, including a grocery store, hardware store, pharmacy, post office, bank, LCBO, town hall and churches. In addition, many of the County’s wineries are located just a short drive or bike ride away, as are additional shops, galleries and restaurants.

Prince Edward County is a unique island getaway in southeastern Ontario offering something for everyone: beautiful beaches, scenic back roads for cycling and hiking, a rich collection of colonial architecture, and a vibrant culture featuring fine restaurants and other local culinary delights, wineries, galleries as well as music, theatre, food and art festivals.

Main Street Cottage is located 2 hours from Toronto, 3 hours from Ottawa and 4 hours from Montreal.

This home is truly a comfortable space for family get away. We have had 3 Christmas celebrations there. Our Hosts are absolutely marvelous. The house is very comfortable and quiet. It’s a wonderful experience to spend Christmas with my family in my home town.

Our group of four enjoyed our stay in this lovely farmhouse very much. We arrived in an unexpected and untimely snowstorm and the weather prevented us from experiencing Wellington the way we hoped, but we were cozy in our accommodations. I was especially impressed with the ease of communication with our host and we really appreciated the snow clearing that was done for us. We are already talking about a return to this property.

Lovely cottage in a lovely village!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Richard was very attentive and responsive. We loved how close we were to the beach, shops and restaurants. Sitting in the summer porch enjoying our morning coffee as we watched the roses bud and bloom and watching the early morning activities, was one of my favourite things. The strawberries were ready for picking and sweet like candy! We plan to return soon!

Great stay!

We had a great stay! The house is very comfortable for a family of 6. It is centrally located in Wellington, everything is walking distance. The house was clean and had all the necessary supplies, even books and games for the kids. The host is very responsive. We will definitely come back!

Perfect Location - Excellent Hosts

Perfectly located for walking to very good restaurants for meals. Very clean and comfortable. Clear and helpful instructions on all aspects from check-in to tv remotes. The host was absolutely wonderful in quickly remedying a problem outside the property (car parked across laneway entrance). The first time it's happened at the home - the host responded to us promptly, and then quickly solved the issue due to their knowing people there. This is the value of having hosts that actually live in and have forged good relationships in the their community. The Main Street Cottage is always our first choice when in the "County", and it is always a pleasure to stay there.

Great location, lots of natural light

We really enjoyed this house. The beds were very comfy, soothing azul beach cottage decor, long enclosed veranda in the front and extensive backyard. Washroom renovated with style. Richard was prompt in communication. We look forward to returning.

County Getaway

The cottage is the most perfect accommodation for staying in the heart of Wellington in the middle of beautiful prince edward county. Stayed with 3 friends and no one could get over how lovely of a home it was, and how centrally located we were to the water, great restaurants, coffee shops and bike rentals! The cottage was clean, very well equipped and had everything we needed. I also appreciated how responsive and courteous our host Richard was with all of our questions! Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again in the future as there is much to do and see in the county!

Base camp for wedding weekend
