"Warm welcome and friendly staff, however quite a modest property even for a BnB and at this price point. Small room with very small shower. Fine breakfast but only instant freeze dried coffee, and few options if you don't want a fry up. Immediate area full of litter on streets (like most of Barry). I know this isn't their fault but it's a location point. Overall a fine place to stay but I'm surprised current reviews are quite so high -- afterall, a warm and friendly welcome should be expected...

"As soon as I checked in, friendly lovely staff members let me check in a bit early which helped as I had heavy suitcase and I got my room straight. They gave me recommendations for food nearby too which was really helpful as I wasn’t sure what was good local foods. If you want a place to stay in Barry this is it for sure. And one other positive right next to the Barry station within good walking distance."

Great selection available for the continental breakfast and all presented nicely. Great comeunication from the host prior to arrival and the whole experience was very welcoming."

"There were some minor issues, but my main complaint is this is the second time I have stayed here and the fire alarm has gone off during the middle of the night. We had to all evacuate the hotel at 1am and stand in the car park for 20 mins whilst the rain came down so heavy everyone was soaked. We then were eventually let back in and had to use the stairs as the lifts were not working. Next day we were told it was because a guest was smoking in a room. Very annoying and to have had this happen...

"I’m confused by the good reviews. This clearly would have been a lovely hotel in the past but appears to have no investment for decades. The room I was large but had the same musty smell that pervades the whole hotel. Old carpet, missing secondary glazing panel meaning no noise insulation from busy road and nothing like the pictures on Expedia which show fairly modern rooms, It’s in a fantastic location near the centre and deserves much better care than the current owners are giving it. "It was close to many fun bars and restaurants. Also 5 minute walk from the train station."

"Great location and the staff were super helpful (Richard) they have a car park that was gated and secure, watch out for the seagulls on the top floor of the car park as they are nesting there. Breakfast was excellent and a great selection. The bar service was excellent too!"

"Already knew and liked the Park Plaza brand. Cardiff’s Park Plaza exceeded our expectations. Staff all excellent, room comfortable. Grabbed a quick pre-theatre meal and wow - it was superb in eveyway (taste, presentation and value for money). A La Carte looked good too and we took a desert from there. Big shout out to George who led his team well - especially as a couple were on there first shifts…"
