Historic Murphy's House

  • This is not your ordinary vacation rental!
    Our home is located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in St Augustine, the Historic Abbott Tract. The Historic Murphey House is a wonderful two story house that was built between 1885 and 1894, the details set it apart from the rest. Our house features original hardwood floors throughout, antique brass chandeliers, original door hardware, beautiful antique furniture, and a claw foot tub. The centerpiece in the kitchen is a very rare and working 1926 electric stove which features two ovens, and multiple burners. All the charm of a Bed and Breakfast with an affordable price. This is your chance to experience St Augustine the way it is meant to be experienced.

    We have also just finished a complete exterior renovation so please book and enjoy this special place. The house is equipped with central heat and air conditioning to keep you comfortable, and it is set up to sleep up to 6-8 people, if you have the larger group of 8, the master suite can be split into two bedrooms with a twin bed and trundle bed underneath. The kitchen is also fully equipped with all utensils, dishes, etc., dishwasher, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, and a Breville Toaster oven. A full-sized Washer and Dryer are also onsite to help make your family trip a bit easier. Parking is also easy as there is an on-site driveway that can easily fit 3 mid-size cars.

    Wireless internet is onsite, with internet TV devices such as ROKU available on the TVs. There is also a PlayStation and DVD player available for viewing/playing as well.

    Please enjoy your stay in our wonderful home, and take in everything Saint Augustine has to offer, without worrying about parking!

    Great location with easy access to downtown and only 15 minutes to the beach. Plenty of seating and beds for multiple families. Very interesting history and Gertrude was friendly, we would definitely be back

    Location was amazing! Only 2 blocks from the fort. So easy to walk to everything! The host was very responsive! Antiques galore! We were able to get 3 smaller SUV’s in the driveway but it was playing Tetris. We enjoyed our stay so much!

    Great location and quaint neighborhood. Comfortable and well stocked with more than you might find in other rentals. Loved all the antiques and feel of the place. A bit rustic and needs a little work but I guess you could say it added to the vintage charm. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

    Back for our second year and it was just as good as the first! This house has become our go-to spot. It’s clean, well-stocked, and the location is unbeatable. The host is fantastic and makes everything easy.

    The house was clean and had alot of character. For being an old house it was in pretty good shape. Loved the location, St George St. within walking distance and a wonderful coffee shop around the corner with yummy pastries. Looked forward to quiet time on the porch in the mornings with my cup of joe.

    We have been in st Aug many times over the years. We had the BEST stay ! We came for a concert weekend, and really loved this home. Everything is in walking distance to this place but it’s not right downtown. It’s close to the renaissance - which is good to know if your friends are bookin a hotel close by. We would definitely stay here again. I loved the 1920’s stove- I cook every meal and love antiques so this was a really sweet experience for myself. Over all, it was cozy and enjoyable. Nothing over the top or fancy about it but if you love historic homes (my house is from 1894 - so, I love them !) this is definitely a neat house to stay in. Owners are great to communicate/plan with and they even mailed back my sister in laws jacket that we accidentally left behind. Very kind of them. Thanks for an awesome experience over all.

    Such a lovely home!! We had a wonderful time. Christian was an excellent host and very responsive and welcoming. There is a coffee house just up the street that had a perfect porch to sit on. We went to Saint for dinner - delicious. Shopped on St. George street. Went to Cookiebird for Icecream- so good. Brunch at Sunday - yum. Found some treasures at the vintage stores. And we were very happy to be in the cool air conditioning when we returned to the house. This house is a fantastic location with a short walk to St. George one way and to the vintage stores the other. It was perfect!

    The house was built in late 1800s, but has been retrofitted with electric and central air and heat, which worked very well. St. Augustine is killer hot in July. The location is great, being only a few blocks from the fort, where we were able to watch the amazing fireworks, which is the reason we rented for the weekend. It's easy to come to St. Augustine on the 4th and view the fireworks, but not so easy to leave after the show. Getting out of the city is a nightmare and takes hours on the 4th.. It was nice to be able to relax back at the house after just a short walk from the show. The house was clean, interesting, sitting in a nice neighborhood close to shops. Driveway holds two cars. The antiques were a nice touch, especially the 1936 antique electric Edison stove .

    My only suggestion would be to have small trash cans in the bedrooms and more than 1 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. The place is great!
