Lakeside Retreat in Adirondack Valley! Summer on the lake; Winter on the slopes!

Oyster Haven is a renovated circa 1830 farmhouse that combines vintage charm with all the modern conveniences, including a state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen with two ovens and an enormous central island perfect for large family gatherings.
Located on the shore of Lake Champlain, this immaculate and comfortable vacation home boasts an acre and a half of property that includes a deck, a large patio with a fire pit, and a grassy yard that stretches out to where stairs lead down to a private beach. With 250 feet of lake frontage, a dock, two kayaks, a canoe, a stand-up paddle board, and a mooring for those who wish to bring or rent a motorboat or sailboat, guests can find a whole host of outdoor activities without ever leaving the back yard.

Located very close to the Adirondack Mountains, enjoy hiking in the summer and outstanding skiing on Whiteface Mountain in the winter. The Fall also provides for breathtaking leaf turning color!

So much history in the area, with museums featuring the Revolutionary War and War of 1812. The portion of the lake off our back yard was the site of the Battle of Valcour of the Revolutionary War! Attractions nearby include Ausable Chasm with rafting (even white water), tours, and even rock climbing. The area has a winery tour and a current explosion of craft breweries to visit. We have a connection with The Valcour Brewing Company located in The Old Stone Barracks on the old Plattsburgh Air Force Base.

For those planning a wedding in the area, we are located right next door to the Valcour Conference Center which hosts year round weddings and receptions. Our home is a short walk to this venue and perfect for housing out of town wedding guests.

As spectacular as this lake house looks in the photos, it is somehow even better in person! We were a family group of 8 adults and 3 little ones. The house is immaculately clean, spacious, and thoughtfully furnished. The toddler play area was a huge bonus, with a great selection of safe, clean toys. We could easily all be in the kitchen for meal prep and family-style dining with gorgeous lake views; we also enjoyed many meals outdoors on the deck. The expansive lawn offers fabulous space for running and games, and the beachfront is navigable for all ages. Great location - Ausable Chasm right up the road, multiple hikes and bike rides nearby. Tim and Laura were courteous and responsive during the planning stage and right through our week-long visit. If we ever have the opportunity to return, we will!

We loved this place! The back yard was large & flat (great for kids); the beach was perfect and the lake is beautiful! Loved that the water stays shallow for a decent distance for young children. Lots of water toys: kayaks/paddle boards/a canoe. Nice sized bedrooms and plenty of room in the house. Great kitchen and nice fire pit outside with plenty of seating.

Breathtaking

We had a very busy weekend for my daughter’s wedding. We wish we could have enjoyed all the amenities the property had and would definitely come back for a vacation week. The property was perfect for our family. Very convenient for the wedding which was a short walk to the valcour inn. The host communication was exceptional

Oyster Haven Heaven

Oyster haven was a beautiful place to rest on the lake or play in the backyard any game you could think of (the grassy backyard was awesome)! The house AC worked great. The kayaks were great! The paddle boards were missing the rudders but still usable. The kitchen was a gathering place and fully stocked. We would definitely return! The beds were very comfortable

Family vacation

We have stayed in the Oyster House 3 or 4 times now. It is such a wonderful home. I love the amazing yard off the back, overlooking beautiful Lake Champlain! The bay is sandy and calm for kayaks and paddle boards. Waking up and looking over the lake. We never feel crowded! In fact it also allows us to be hospitable to welcome and enjoy other family we are visiting there on the lake. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful house

There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room. Tim was easy to reach and was a great host. The kids loved the kayaks and all the games. The beds were very comfortable and we loved all the outdoor seating. We spent most of our time on our boat and exploring Valcour island.

Beautiful view, lovely home, close to road.

The house was large and very nicely decorated. Kids enjoyed the ping pong in the basement. The views from the backyard were beautiful. The owners were very responsive and helpful both before, during, and after our stay. I gave only 4 stars because we are light sleepers, and house is situated close to a busy highway and a train also passed through the area several times a night. Also, if you are considering bringing a dog, we found out that the shore is lined with burr plants that became tangled easily in our doodles coat and we could not have them at the waters edge. It was October so not sure if they are there in the summer months as well. The private waterfront access would be very nice in the summer!

Second stay just as great as the first

This was our second summer staying for a week at Oyster Haven. Our multi generation group enjoyed every aspect of the property. The outside space can’t be beat - from the expansive back yard to the private beach area with use of kayaks and a canoe. We all love this property!

Family Lake Getaway

We have stayed on Lake Champlain before, but this property was even better. The house was very spacious, very clean, and very homey. We came with another family with 6 kids (11-17yrs) between us. We enjoyed the tubes, boogie boards, kayaking, canoeing, and SUPs. Great outdoor spaces. It’s the perfect place for a family lake vacation. We hope to rent this property again! Thank you!

Perfect in Every Way

We loved our stay at Oyster Haven. The house was comfortable, spacious, and accommodated four couples nicely. There were so many places to gather to eat, hang out, and play games, and the lake view was absolutely stunning. Groceries and supplies were close by in Plattsburgh, and there was so much to see and do within a short drive. We recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing lakefront getaway. Very relaxing

Great stay, our visit was a fishing trip for our grandson's graduation. One of his fishing goals was to catch a pike. He accomplished that goal during our stay at Oyster Haven. It’s hard to describe how excited he was. We had a great time .

Amazing home for an annual family trip

I cannot say enough good things about this property and it’s host! The pictures do not do it justice, the house is big and spacious and homey. It included everything we needed. The fire pit, yard, and lake were literal perfection. We kayaked, paddle boarded and just enjoyed our time being outdoors. My 8 year old particularly loved the kids room off the kitchen and the ping pong!! We ventured out to Ausable Chasm and a few breweries in the area but we all just wanted to enjoy the house and the perfect weather we had. We had to reach out to the hosts and Tim was kind, responded quickly and such a nice gentleman. If your on the fence about this house, don’t be. It’s perfect!
