  • Welcome to our waterfront cottage, The Mermaid of Lorain, one of the Pelee Island’s Finest Homes, a two-story building on the very finest sand swim beach in a Cul-De-Sac! It has 3 bedrooms with Queen’s size beds in each room plus 1 pull out bed, which can accommodate up to 8 people. One bedroom (The Cleodora) is located on the main floor while the other 2 (The Nixie and The Ocarina)are located on the second floor. All the rooms and the living room have full lake views.
    The flooring is made of carpet over wood, ceramic and laminate. It has a full kitchen with a stove, a microwave, oven, a refrigerator, dishes, glasses, utensils, and a dishwasher. We have a washer and a dryer for the clothes. It has 2 full baths, one on each floor. Bed linens, towels, and cleaning supplies are provided.
    The finely decorated white wooden stair railings plus carpets on the stairs to the second floor are added safety features for the children and the elderly.
    You'll also find an assortment of coffee makers, dining table, breakfast table and an outdoor gas BBQ grill. There is a large back deck for outdoor sitting. Fine decorated, bright and naturally lit interior features many artworks. The Mermaid of Lorain, Pelee Island’s Finest cottage is a relaxing and peaceful home. It has indoor entertainment with high speed satellite internet, satellite TV, VCR, CD/DVD player, a large collection of CDs and DVDs, a radio, books, and games for all age groups. There is a Playpen for younger children. Heating Base Boards, Fans, and Window Air Conditioners are available. There are plenty of beach chairs and a picnic table. Pelee Island's finest sand swim beach is at your front door. Lake Erie is quite shallow near our beach.

The cottages are close together but it is still private. Great view of L Erie. Property manager very helpful. BBQ not working. Sheets etc need replacing. Old furniture. Couch in LR not comfortable.

Nice facility and location. Furniture a bit dated and owners requirements for checkout were a lot more extensive that what we were used to.

Excellent beach front location, amazing caretaker, fully euiped and comfortable space and cooperative owner. We had a great time!Note: Since it was in the house rules, we had to spend several valuable hours of our stay to do the bedsheet & towels laundry and clean the house before leaving the place!

Pelee Island is stunning and this beautiful spot right on the east shore did not disappoint! The cottage was clean and well appointed with more supplies than expected! Extremely comfortable beds! Lots of spiders inside and out but it won’t keep us away!

Great Little Cottage

Great little place right on a sandy beach! We were there for the pelee half and made a vacation out of it by staying an extra few days. Very worth it!

Don't rent this property unless you are prepared to sleep with spiders and use fans and window air conditioners that are filthy with dead bugs and dirt. This house needs a lot of attention and the owner is not updating or fixing it. His caretakers are a nice couple in their 70s and they can't keep up to it. We did as the caretakers told us to do with the laundry and garbage and the owner charged us an extra 75. He is harvesting money and not keeping up his cottage. The photos on the ad must have been taken many years ago.
Stained old worn out furniture
The remote for the bedroom ceiling fan, which was so dirty! Good we didn't need to turn it on!
This was on the floor near a bed. All the units installed in the windows looked just as bad or worse.
Disgusting dirty windows everywhere. This one was in a bedroom.

This home is a great location, on the beach, comfortable and a great place to create memories with family and friends. I would definitely go back. Our host was always available if needed.

The property was a nice size, the house was overall as advertized. The weather was really hot, the bedrooms had window air conditioners which worked well, but the rest of the house was warm

Great option on Pelee!

We are life-long Pelee people who just needed some extra space as a bunch of family came in at the same time. This cottage is on some of the best beach area of the island and had all we that was needed to accommodate our family (of 5) and my brother's family (of 4).
