Good Stay

We had a couple hiccups when we first arrived but the property manager helped to resolve fairly quickly. On down part to this property is you have to pick the keys up a different location thank the property. So you have to pay for an extra stop in a taxi or haul all your luggage to and from the property upon arrival and departure.

Great location and accommodation. The check in process and “passport” system for information was awful. The link to open the passport for information and the code to obtain the keys for the property didn’t work. The WIFI had no internet connection for the duration of our stay. No streaming services on TV for the kids or ability to download maps or look up what we wanted to do during our stay unless we turned on roaming (not cheap when travelling from Canada).

Nice layout, check-in is a hassle

The apartment is nice and very clean, but slightly worn (especially the carpet, which has holes). Kitchen is well-stocked and the mattresses are excellent.My only complaint is with the check-in process. You have to pick up keys at a convenience store several blocks away from the property. This is a huge hassle. Especially if you have heavy luggage. The same problem repeats upon check out, which becomes a real problem if you have an early flight. Why not just install a combination lock and give out the code?

Great stay - only minor changes that would make the stay smoother

The apartment was perfect, just what we were looking for as 4 friends looking to have a weekend away in Edinburgh. My only suggestion would be to give more detail over the initial collection of the keys as we were very unsure of this (e.g. specifying it is a cost cutter we have to collect from). Also we were let down by one of the business on the Stasher website as we paid to stash our bags and arrived at the location to find it closed. This however is not a reflection of the apartment. Overall, would highly recommend and would stay here again.

Loved our stay

The appartement was lovely. The heating was broken on the first day, but they fixed it the next day and always replied fast. We had some issues to find the place to check in. Some more plates in the kitchen would be good.

Good place to land for a week in Edinburgh

The location of this place was great, just north of the New Town and not more than a 20 minute walk to the important places in Old Town! - It was reasonably priced for a week during the Edinburgh International / Fringe Festival and for how close it was, and had two full bedrooms (and two couches, but I don't believe they pull out). - The kitchen and bathroom were clean and well-appointed. Plenty of dishware and appliances to use for a longer stay. - The TV worked and had a good selection of channels, and the Wifi was good Negatives include: - The check in process was a bit annoying, the company that operates this rental uses a separate website to provide check-in information rather than providing it directly on VRBO. They didn't send the information needed to retrieve the key until right at the time of check-in, which was a bit stressful as we did not always have Wifi to check messages. - The shower is electronically controlled from a panel, and there is nothing in the online details about the house or inside the house itself about how to use it. The first two showers I took the temperature wouldn't stop changing between 38C and 54C, and I had to essentially dodge the hot water. - The mirror in the bathroom is above the toilet rather than the sink, making facial care and makeup rather odd/uncomfortable. Overall would recommend but certainly not 5 star luxury! Perfect for a place to land between sight-seeing, dinners, exploring, etc.

Exploring Edinburgh

My husband and I went to St. Andrew’s University to help our daughter move out of her apartment. She had just completed her Masters program. We wanted to tour Edinburgh before we flew home. The apartment was perfect! It was clean, conveniently located and comfortable for three people. The owners and VRBO management were all very friendly and helpful with all of our questions. I would rent this apartment again if we return!

First time visitors

We loved the location of this property - walking distance to local grocery store, coffee shops, botanical gardens, Princes street and Edinburgh Castle. Property managers were very attentive and responsive to our questions. We would stay again.

Great location

Not as clean as we'd expect (trash leftover from previous tenant, remnants of ceiling rot in the closet, carpets had unclean spots). Shower was a nightmare to operate. Beds very uncomfortable. Pillows very poor with no additional pillows. Great location for main town and Stockbridge.

Okay apartment, needs some TLC

This is a small, very basic, first floor apartment. I would not call it a 'beautiful mews house' by any stretch. Bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, okay. Bathroom, needs work - inadequate shower, radiator with discoloured paint cracking off. Door dirty. Extractor doesn't seem to work and is full of fluff and dust. Cleaners need an eye test. Windows were filthy with dust and dirt on the outside, spoiled what little view the place has. They were painted by an amateur with a wobbly hand too, splodges of paint on the glass not cleaned off, looks dreadful. Washer/dryer wouldn't dry - set it for 1h30, it stopped after 10 mins - not ideal when Edinburgh was wet and we needed to dry things. Front door has swollen, slipped or both - has to be given a good shove to open it while turning the key and has to be slammed shut, which is especially difficult from outside as there's no handle to pull, only the letterbox. I've raised this with ALTIDO, hopefully they'll fix it soon. Had to look in the landing cupboard to check the boiler. The ceiling has partly fallen down in there, rotten, and they've not even bothered to remove the debris. Smoke alarms - there appear to be two sets, of which one randomly went off in the middle of one evening. No sign of any valid cause. Lots of miniature shower gel and shampoo, but no hand soap when we arrived. Check-in process fine once instructions were corrected - collect keys from a local shop. All in all, unsatisfactory for the price.

Nice location with many shortcommings

All the rooms in the flat had ample space except for the bathroom which was cramped but OK. The location was a short walk from New Town which offered a large variety of pubs, restaurants, and shopping. The flat was clean but there were issues which lessened the experience of our 4-night stay. The hot water didn't work so there was no heat (which was not a problem since the weather was mild) and no hot faucet water except for the shower which has a separate heater. The dryer would turn on and spin but there was no heat so it was useless. There was a slow water leak in the utility closet which had created a mold issue on the closet ceiling and floor. The management company was made aware of these issues on day one of our stay but was very slow to act and the issues were not addressed before we checked out. In addition, the beds were not king-size as advertised and the mattresses were worn out to the point you could feel the wire of the coil springs. There were many other small issues which shows a lack of attention to detail by the property management company. So in short I would not recommend this property.

Nice relaxing stay

House was located within walking distance to all of Edinburgh. Place was very clean and roomy for a family of four. We had some issues with the heat and washing machine however the property management team was able to react quickly and resolve the issues in a reasonable amount of time.

Lovely flat, close to Princes St

Great accommodation, close to Princes St and central for most of Edinburgh's key must-see spots. I stayed with a colleague attending a conference and the flat gave us much needed flexibility and space that a hotel would not enable.

Cute little mews house in great location

A quaint home above a garage overlooking the neighbor's garden in a good location. Unfortunately, you have to go all the way downtown near Waverly Station to retrieve and return the key (25 min walk each way). Also, the mgmt company "fixed" the towel rack heater (not our request to fix it) so that the bathroom was a sauna and there was no way to turn it off. They emailed directions that didn't work. Also, no mirror over the sink or any plugs in the bathroom or anywhere near a mirror in the whole place. And, they said the beds are king sized and I'm pretty sure they are queens. If they fix these things, it would be a great place to stay.
