"Amazing, the photos do not do it justice, lovely cosy cottage a home from home and fully equipped. Great location, short walk to village incl pubs and chippy, also access to walks (which pass through livestick fields so dogs on leads). Grizedale forest was a short drive away with really good (long & short) walks, better for dogs off leads. "

"The hotel is ideally located, well maintained and has very helpful staff. The spa is excellent and has a bar accessible directly from it. Breakfast was good and all produce tasted local. The hot tub was secluded with a great view."

"Great location Very good staff. The Winander section has its own very helpful staff and breakfast with great views. The room we had was a very spacious and well designed. My only comment was a shaving mirror would have been useful given the distance to the actual mirror. The spa access for hotel Guests was somewhat more limited than expected and the outdoor areas were completely separate and require extra payment. What is left in the swimming pool area is a little bit more limited than similar...

"The hotel is in a perfect location. The decor is spotless. Some amazing chandeliers!!! The staff were so charming and helpful. Breakfast was great. large dining room with self service buffet having everything you desire which was frequently topped up. The bar drinks were expensive though. £25 for 2 glasses of white wine seemed way too much to us. The rooms do differ in size a lot though so I would go for the biggest you can afford if you want a view and space to move around. Beds are really...

"Beautiful view from our room. Spa and spa treatments were lovely. Large lounge restaurant area with view of lake, ideal for just chilling. Location is superb."

"Over priced and the quality doesn’t match the price. Our room was in need of an upgrade, it was noisy from the road traffic and the bathroom door was rotting from damp. There was damp around the shower. The bed was only marginally more comfortable than the pavement. They even tried to charge us for a breakfast we didn’t order. This was supposed to be a luxury treat, complete failure."

"One of the few hotels in central Ambleside with lots of facilities which was a bonus. Although the sauna and steam room were a little chilly! Areas of the hotel were being upgraded with others still to do - bathrooms and main dining area."

"Only small gripe was the shower head had a bit of black mould on it and one roller blind came away whilst I was closing it. Luckily my husband was able to clip it back in quickly. Room and bedding both clean, grounds beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast was fantastic, quality hot cooked breakfast and very pleasant staff. We would visit again, thank you."
