"We loved our ski holiday at Hotel Takimoto. The all inclusive plan was great - so much included. Meals and drinks were great and plentiful, rooms were comfy, skis and boots were good quality, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent central location with easy access to the extensive Shiga Kogen ski area. A bonus was being able to ski back to the front door. "Room was massive, double the size of any room we have stayed in in Japan. Pillows had both Western and traditional Japan options. Fiona was encompassed in a fitted sheet (never seen this before) but kept us all warm even when it was sub 0 outside. Room had access to outdoor area, exclusive to the room, which had table and chairs. "The hospitality (service and meals) at Shiganoyu Hotel were amazing. While we did not speak Japanese and the staff did not speak English, they used a translation tool for conversation and didn't let that be a barrier. "We stayed here and were impressed with the service. It is primarily a ski hotel and we needed to transport our baggage down the slope at an early hour...the staff willingly did it by tobaggan. This is a traditional japanese hotel...witg futons and communal bathing area which was fun to experience. Snow monkeys were fun to see."
