  • Tocón de gus

    En Boyne Falls, Michigan, hay una propiedad tranquila que se encuentra en la rama norte del río Boyne. La propiedad se llama tocón de Gus. Sobre la chimenea se encuentra una hermosa imagen de un tocón de árbol especial ubicado a lo largo de la orilla del río. Un amigo de mis padres pintó este cuadro que captura la belleza natural de la propiedad durante todo el año.

    Mi padre y mi madre y muchos otros familiares y amigos han encontrado que esta casa es un refugio de la vida cotidiana, pacífica y prístina. Durante unos 60 años hemos disfrutado de la belleza del norte de Michigan y la comodidad de esta escapada.

    Mi padre compró esta propiedad en la década de 1950 mientras jugaba fútbol para los Detroit Lions. (Fueron repetidos campeones en esos años). Era el lugar perfecto para que él y sus compañeros se retiraran cuando necesitaban un tiempo libre. Tenían acceso a las mejores áreas de esquí en el estado, a las grandes playas y a un fácil acceso a la península superior. Desde aquellos años, el número de actividades en las áreas circundantes se ha disparado, mientras que el Tocón de Gus ha permanecido como un santuario en medio de todo.

    La propiedad se ubica en 40 acres privados y se enfrenta a dos reservas naturales para cientos de acres de naturaleza totalmente subdesarrollada en el norte. Puedes pescar en el arroyo o sol en la gran cubierta. Una fogata es casi una necesidad. Gus s Stump se encuentra en el municipio de Boyne Falls. Es un trayecto corto a Boyne, Petosky y Gaylord, y menos de una hora a Charlevoix o Mackinac Island. La entrada a Boyne Mountain es exactamente cinco millas de distancia. Todo hacia el norte desde Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes hasta Traverse City está a su alcance.

Pleasant Stay

Had a nice weekend stay at Gus's Stump. Our family enjoyed the home and found the firepit set-up, bubbling creek sounds and back deck very relaxing! Suited our needs and was clean and comfortable.

Relaxing by the river

We had a great stay at Gus's Stump! The backyard and the river are so peaceful. We loved the location and did a quick drive to beaches in Charlovoix and Petoskey and even did a day trip at Mackinaw Island. The house was spacious. We would definitely stay here again.

Great cabin in the woods on the North Branch of the Boyne river. Cabin is well equipped with amenities. The owner Jeff was great to communicate with. Will definitely rent again next time we are in Boyne

Michigan trip

Great place to stay. The property is beautiful. Check in was easy and Jeff was responsive and beyond helpful. We visited the nearby Waterpark, skybridge and went to the beaches. I recommend the Petosky beaches over the others. Would love to visit again!

Northern Michigan Paradise

Gus' Stump was the perfect place for our family to relax and reboot. Lovely property, great location for what we had planned and relaxing environment. The owners were available for phone contact or texting at a moments notice and had many helpful suggestions on how to maximize our stay. We will definitely keep Gus' Stump in mind for our next Michigan getaway.

Peaceful setting

We completely enjoyed our stay at Gus's Stump. The cabin was exactly as described and the river and deck were very enjoyable and relaxing. The location was close to many nice beaches, towns and restaurants. Thank you for the close communication and concern for your guests!! :)

Excellent!

We loved our time at Gus' Stump! The stream filled with trout winding through the nature preserve filled with Birch trees was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin is comfortable and clean, with plenty of space. The location is great if you want to experience other Northern Michigan highlights.

Perfect for a girls’ weekend

Best place for a relaxing girls weekend where we could sit outside, listen to the river or drive to Traverse City/Mackinac City. Jeff made sure we had everything we needed and was a text away if we didn’t.

Gus's Stump is Amazing!

Our group of 8 adults comfortably fit in this wonderful - rustic property. The setting is amazing - great falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook. So much outside space to gather and we were cozy gathering inside for meals and games. The home was immaculate at arrival and Jeff stayed in contact to make sure everything was perfect. I would highly recommend this place for your Michigan Vacation.

great house for family ski trip

This was a great location and house for a post-Christmas family ski trip. Enough room in living area for 4 adults and 4 kids, and plenty of beds/bedroom space. Bathrooms were good sized. Entire house was very clean, warm and comfortable. Nice big open area by door so we had plenty of room to load/unload skis etc. Easy 10 minute drive to Boyne Mountain. Owners checked in with us proactively and responded quickly when we had a question. Would definite stay here again.

Woodsy Delight

Wonderful week with the family. Kids lived wading in the stream. All enjoyed making s’mores by the fire-pit. Cabin was very clean. Great to have washer and dryer. The location was central to many places; all within an hour’s drive or less! Also appreciated the communication with owner. 😊

Cozy Cabin Perfect for a long Ski Weekend

Stayed here with a group of 6 for 3 nights while we skied at Boyne. The cabin was very well suited for our group. Very comfortable and more than spacious enough for all of us. There's a fully usable kitchen and washer/dryer for longer stays and a very cozy living room with gas fireplace and TV. The hosts were very helpful in suggesting some restaurants and activities for our group in the evenings and were readily available to answer any questions via text. To top it off we had the easiest check-in/check-out process of any rental I've stayed in. Truly a pleasure to stay here in every sense of the word and we hope to be back next winter.

Best Christmas Ever!

We took our family to Gus's for Christmas weekend this year and had a wonderful Christmas. Our hosts made sure we had a Christmas tree so that our Chirstmas morning was as good as being at home. Our host checked in with us several times to make sure everything was going well during our stay. This is a quaint and cozy cottage with plenty of room and the sound of the stream running through the backyard for ambience. Just a few minutes from Boyne Mountain, and just a bit further to some excellent hiking and shopping in Boyne City. It has something for everyone. I highly recommend this destination.

Great get away cabin

Our family of 5, including a few small children loved this place. The cabin itself was clean and very inviting. There are a lot of places to sit outside on the deck and around the fire pit. The stream running behind the cabin is awesome. Everyone enjoyed sitting around the fire, making smores and looking up at the beautiful stars. There were thousands of fireflies after dark which was an incredible sight too (late June). The owners were great to deal with also. Our family would definitely recommend Gus' stump...

Cedar Swamp River Property

Location awesome except for the occasional truck braking & shifting at the curve off the main road which is very close. The small creek was perfect on a hot day to sit right in it! Weather was warm so the cabin was quite hot without AC. Big huge deck, well stocked with TP and paper towels, kitchen well equipped! We put this home on KEEP list!! Thank you

Boyne Falls

This location was good for all the things we wanted to do in Michigan. The fireplace was very nice and cozy. We didn't expect it to be as cold as it was , so having that was nice. One thing to note would be that the woods are pretty marshy, so if you go exploring make sure you have some muck boots or rain boots. There was an apple tree down the road that we managed to get some delicious apples from. The host made sure we had everything we needed and periodically checked in on us.

Great Place!

We loved our stay and all of Jeff's tips! The house and land is beautiful and in a great spot for stargazing. We'd definitely recommend this place to friends. It was also fun for the group to debate who "Gus" was and why it was his stump throughout the trip. Thanks for hosting us!

Beautiful cabin in rustic setting

Loved our stay. The kids loved the cabin, fire pit, stream running through the back, & sitting on the porch. Fantastic location near Boyne City, Petosky, Charlevoix, one hour from Mackinaw City. Will visit again!

Cozy and awesome

Cozy cottage with everything you need. Veru clean and nice. The setting is fantastic. Jeff checked in a few times to make sure everything was going well. High recommended!
