"The neighborhood is not the best, but the parking and rooms felt safe. It was surprisingly quiet given how close it was to the freeway. I don't think I'll stay again, but it was great value for the bay area."

"I have stayed at the Coral Reef many times over the years. It is a classic 1930’s/1940’s motel so things are a bit old. But the price, value, and location are great for a traveler who enjoys a place with character and history. The website suggests they have a “business center,” but they do not have a room with a computer and printer you can access. But the staff at front desk were very helpful and printed out my conference papers for me. I had a great stay"

"We only booked for a night because of our visit to UC Berkeley and it was an amazing stay! The rooms were very clean and organized. Staff were nice and they welcomed us with waters. Breakfast was complimentary which was very good and delicious! We had a peaceful stay and the area was calm and peaceful as well. The parking was the $20 a night which was not bad at all. "Although the fire alarm was triggered by an unruly guest, there was no acknowledgment or accountability by staff. My ears are still ringing two days later. Staff should check the volume of the fire alarm. It was excessively ear piercingly loud, likely louder than code requires. The alarm was pulled 4 times throughout the night, no rest for my traumatized family. "

"Front desk person at check in seemed in hurry to get rid of me, sped through check in, didn’t explain anything. When I asked questions she answered with annoyance. So I stopped asking. Place was very clean and kept up nicely. Not sure why they charge a high daily fee for parking the place has plenty of parking. That didn’t seem necessary, and makes a huge difference on choosing a place to stay. It also wasn't explained to me at check in that I’d have a daily parking fee. "

"This hotel looked great from the outside; great location, recently painted, nicely landscaped, decent parking area. But inside, the rooms are dated and well used. The kitchenettes have old Formica counters, very old stoves, and no dishes/utensils unless you ask. The bathroom was nothing special, with only two sets of towels, which were small, well used and ordinary. Also, only two pillows available for the bed; I guess that is their favorite number. The breakfast is very limited prepacked cold...
