A Convenient Short Term Home Base
My husband and I rented villa cheli for a month. Communication was good from beginning to end, very quick via telephone or whatsapp. Luthson, his wife Marijke and his sons Roel and Jon are very friendly and hospitable people who really tried to make our stay comfortable while at the same time being totally respectful of our privacy. When we originally inquired about hot water there was none but Luthson kindly agreed to install it in the master bedroom ( one was enough to make us happy). A few other kitchen essentials were very quickly supplied when asked for. A couple of minor maintenance issues were promptly taken care of. All in all very accommodating. We felt totally pampered by Marijke who supplied us with a basket full of fresh bedding and towels once a week .
The house itself is as presented in the ad, recently built and immaculately clean with basic furnishings and basic kitchen supplies, located behind the owner's house but with separate lane and automatic gate. In this rural neighborhood life includes keeping dogs and chickens, goats and donkeys. Here dogs are kept outdoors and looked at as a security system, often one dog with two as back-up. One dog will start barking stirring up his two companions to get into the act, which quickly spreads like wildfire to the other trios in the neighborhood, all working themselves into a barking frenzy, day and night..... IF you aren't prepared to accept this then you may be bothered by it. But if you do, then Villa Cheli can be an economical and convenient short term home base from which to explore this beautiful island .
