SOUNDSIDE Avon - Fathom Ct. - This lovely home located in Kinnakeet Shores has access to all of the community amenities including pool, tennis courts and sound access. You will begin to fathom all that this home has to offer when you see the first floor game room with foosball, TV/DVD, colorful sofa bed and direct access to the deck overlooking the pool. This level also includes a full bath, a bedroom with a pyramid bunk and a bedroom with two single beds each having their own TV. The second level offers a king master suite and two king bedrooms that share the full hall bath. All three offer deck access. The top level boasts an open spacious great room with elegant hardwood floors, rich tropical decor, and 50" Plasma TV/DVD home theater system with surround sound. The kitchen has a lovely view towards the sound so even the chef can enjoy the sunsets. Step outside to the decks with both sound and ocean views. Reserve today and FIVE FATHOMS will be a vacation home you deeply enjoy. (Fireplace seen in pictures is not available for guest use.)

I was a little disappointed with our experience. I was ok with the torn blinds and broken knobs on the hot tub, even ok with the broken dining room chairs that we couldn’t use. I didn’t even throw a fit about losing a day of our vacation due to the mandatory evacuation. However, i reached out to maintenance several times regarding our hot tub not heating. It was only 98 when we arrived and never got hotter than that. By Tuesday night it was 75. It was unusable. They never showed for the mid week service like they were supposed to. They never responded to our service request on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. After we checked out Saturday we got a message that they were working on it and then that it was fixed within an hour. That tells me that it was a minor issue and we couldn’t get service on an amenity that was important to us. We chose a house that was not oceanfront but had a pool and hot tub and then wasn’t even able to use the hot tub all week over a 1 hour fix. I feel like when you spend as much money as we did on a vacation rental, it shouldn’t have several broken, inoperable blinds, several broken unusable dining chairs, and we should be able to use the hot tub we paid for. I understand things breaking, I don’t understand not being able to get maintenance until an hour after we leave. I then emailed surf or sound when we returned from vacation and my response was basically sorry, we will try to improve. To me, that is unacceptable customer service.

Beautiful home with lovely view, days flew by, most of my time was at house enjoying pool, hot tub, game room. Watching sunset top patio off kitchen with glass wine, never disappoints !

Short Walk to Beach!

Less than 5 minute walk to beach. This is not advertised enough in the listing. There are short paths in the development to get to the beach. Great house, dog friendly! Kitchen equipped with all we needed. House cleaning could be improved, rental agency was receptive to our needs.

House was good but…

So start off with we did love the house but.. the front outside steps that lead to the second floor (best way yo take up groceries) are Extremely wobbly and not safe. So we had to lug the groceries up 3 flights of stairs. This house has a lot of steps. I puked be nice if the owner could put in an outside grocery hauler like some other houses have to pull up stuff to the top floor we’re the kitchen is. Also the outside lights are burned out so it was really hard to see going out to take the dog out. Plus the property line seems to be over behind the fence so it would be awesome if the owner extended a little of the pool area for dogs since it’s a dog friendly house and you have to leash and walk every time for restroom breaks. I was fine with but I know some have issues with it. The house was really clean and the inside is taken care of. Some of the sliding doors definitely need piled or put back on track. The couches need replaced but nothing that wouldn’t stop me from renting the house again. The pool is nice. I did like that there was a radio in the game room and the speakers were outside near the pool so that allowed for some music poolside. There are alot of light switches and it would be helpful for them to be labeled. There was no light for the hot tub room so that sucked. Again those are just minor things except those front steps those really need to be take care of. We did enjoy the stay and would book again.

Needs a lot of TLC

The home just barely had a tiny crack of ocean and sound view, so not as advertised. It appears to be rented non stop and no updating or care of the home is taking place. Appliances with rust in and outside of them. Extremely dirty carpet in bottom two floors, there shouldn't be carpet at all. Very dirty living room furniture. There was a chair missing so not enough places for 12 people to eat a meal at a table. Exterior of the home in need of paint badly. The photos do not at all match what you are greeted with when you drive up. We had to call maintenance for exterior lights not working, a toilet seat unattached from the toilet, loose hand railing on the stairs. I have photos but don't see a way to attach them here. This was extremely disappointing for the amount of money spent to stay here.

Five Fathoms

This is a lovely place to stay in Avon. The home is conveniently located near Food Lion, Duck Donuts, Wings, and other stores. The inside of the home is very clean as well as the pool and hot tub. Beach and sound access is only a short distance from the home.

Great time in OBX

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is a little dated on the interior but everything was very clean and functional. Hot tub, pool all sparkling clean and the beds are comfy. We had a great time and can def recommend this house for the price.
