Beautiful Oceanfront Apartment, scenic views and water access

Truly get away from it all on Little John Island in Yarmouth, ME. Accessible by car from Cousins Island, Little John Island sits quietly in Casco Bay, but is just minutes away from Yarmouth Village, Freeport outlet shopping, and Portland's Old Port. Whether you are looking to sit back, relax and enjoy the calming waters and scenic views of Casco Bay, or you want to get out and experience all that Southern Maine has to offer, this is the place to be. Newly constructed in 2013, our second floor studio apartment has a queen bed and full size futon allowing 3 people to sleep comfortably. The kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, 2-burner stove large double basin sink, toaster oven, microwave and is fully outfitted with cookware, plates, utensils, and entertaining supplies. There is a separate dining area with a table and chairs for 4 along with seating for 2 at the bar. The living room area, with 2 chairs, a futon, and a large coffee table, is a cozy area to play games or sit and visit while looking out onto the water. The 3/4 Bathroom also houses a stackable washer/dryer and linens for the unit. Off the dining area, there is a deck with 4 chairs and 2 small tables where you can sit and enjoy the breeze off the water and look out onto Casco Bay. There is also a small grill located on the deck. Outside there are stairs down to the water, where you can walk along the rocks, go for a swim, or go paddling on one of the kayaks available for use with rental. If you prefer to stay on land, Little John Island provides a wonderful setting for walking or biking (bikes are provided). There is ample parking allowing for friends and family to come join you. Just a short drive North, you will find Freeport, which is home to numerous outlet stores, restaurants, a movie theater, and the LL Bean flagship store. Journeying a short ways South and you will find all the shops, restaurants, and history that the Old Port has to offer. There are also multiple restaurants and bars in Yarmouth as well as a supermarket. Very easy access to I-295 and I-95 for those interested in exploring other parts of the state. Also very close to Rte. 1 which will take you for a scenic drive up the coast of Maine.

The Loft Apartment was very nice, we arrived late and missed the building, no exterior lights were on, it took us a minute to figure out we drove past the loft. The loft is very nice, bed has a very firm mattress, washer and dryer is a nice addition. I asked the owner about use of the kayaks and never got a response. The preserve was nice. Overall we were happy with our stay

Amazing property! The photos don’t do it justice. As a former Yarmouth, ME resident, if you want an idyllic Maine living experience, this is it! There are gorgeous ocean views, sunsets and easy access to the shoreline. Yarmouth is a great spot if you’re planning day trips north or south. The guest space is quiet, clean and fully-stocked with all necessities. Owners are lovely and welcoming. I didn’t want to leave…highly recommend staying here!

We loved our long weekend at Paul’s place on Littlejohn Island. The apartment was perfect for just the two of us and we appreciated being able to borrow the bikes and kayaks. Highlight was sitting out on the deck enjoying the perfect sunsets!

The beautiful waterfront property was exactly what we desired. The cute upstairs suite had all the amenities we needed, including kitchen dishes and cutlery, washer/dryer, well stocked bathroom, games, movies, an outside deck with chairs, and Paul and Linda also allowed us to borrow their kayaks. The owners were generous with their time and responded to our questions promptly. They helped us know when the tides were appropriate to kayak and shared information about the island. Our visit was pleasant and we would definitely stay again. We've recommended it to our relatives who will visit next year. Outstanding stay in a lovely setting!

I had no cell service (Verizon) when we were in the middle of Cousins Island so I was not able to pull up the check-in email Paul had sent a few days prior which I had read but thought I could pull up upon arrival. I was able to call him and he came right over to tell us where to park & we figured out the WiFi password. We had a really nice 3 day stay at Anchor Loft. Originally I booked a hotel in Freeport for our annual family reunion. Thank God I found this place instead and was able to cancel the hotel. This place is so comfortable with beautiful views every which way you turn. We took a walk to and around the preserve, then back around the island past the local dock-about a 3.2 mile loop. We sat on our beach chairs on the rocks by the bay on the property reading our books. We enjoyed the sunshine and lovely breeze watching the ferry going back and forth to Chebeague Island. Who needs to go to the beach with sand. We ate dinner at the Royal River Grill which I highly recommend. We hope to come back again to take the ferry, ride bikes & take the kayaks out on the bay. Sitting out on the deck star gazing was a real bonus as well.

My 2 girl friends and I loved our stay on Little John Island. Close enough to Portland to pop in when we wanted, but lots of beautiful walking, swimming, and kayaking opportunities right in the backyard. Little John Island is truly a gem and we would love to come back!

Perfect home base for exploration

The Anchor Loft was the perfect location for my kids and I. Situated snugly on Little John Island, you cross a narrow bridge to get to the property. Once you are there its just steps to the water and the beautiful local flora and fauna. Elsewhere on the island is the Little John preserve where you can hike and visit the beach. The loft itself was clean and smartly stocked. The beds and chairs were comfortable. The outdoor raised seating was perfect for quiet nights enjoying nature. We would definitely return.

Great Coastal Retreat

Located for easy access to the must-see locations on coastal Maine. Apartment is as pictured and described. Very cute and has everything for any length of stay. Go explore off island or stay put and enjoy the ocean scenery, the nice walks at the perserve and at the water. Near many restaurants, shopping and recreational areas. Hosts are very nice and allow for privacy on their property. Their Goldens are adorable, well-behaved, and very friendly if they decide to pay a visit. Highly recommend!

If you are looking for peace, you’ve found it

The Anchor Loft is the perfect size for the solo traveler or a duo and has everything you need to live comfortably for your getaway. Very clean, up to date, well maintained, and in a quiet, peaceful, and absolutely gorgeous setting. Far superior to a hotel for the same or a lesser price. If you need anything while at the property, Paul is very responsive, personable, and kind. Very easy to make trips into town or nearby Portland and Freeport. A great place to come back to after a longer day trip in the region for hiking, sailing, lighthouse touring etc. Several good food options in Yarmouth and Freeport as well if, like me, you don’t want to cook on your vacation and like to have plenty of good options close by - I recommend the Royal River Grillhouse for a really good dinner. I will be back.

Beautiful place, great based for trips up and down coast

This was a beautiful apartment in a great location to make day trips up and down the coast. The property is amazing, overlooking an inlet off the bay. The only nit I’d have is the part about having a beach available - at least during early August, that beach is non-existent, covered by beautiful grasses, and the swing of the tides means even if the grass weren’t there, for a good chunk of the day you’re looking over tidal mudflats. Still beautiful, but we brought beach chairs thinking there’d be a beach and there wasn’t.
