Disappointing Stay – Issues Not Resolved and Poor Follow-Up
I stayed at the Churchill Court Hotel in November and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I had booked three suites of the same type and price for myself and two friends, but the suite I was given was noticeably smaller than the other two, so I did not receive the same standard of accommodation despite paying the same rate.
The main problems, however, were with the room itself. The heating did not work, and as we visited in November, the room was extremely cold. The staff were friendly and brought me two portable heaters straight away, which I appreciated, but they simply weren’t powerful enough to warm the space. I had to leave one of them running constantly just to make the room bearable.
There was also a leak in the kitchen tap, causing a constant dripping sound throughout the night. Because the kitchen area is in the same space as the bed, this made it very difficult to sleep. I reported the issue but was told that no one could come out to fix it during my stay.
When I later raised these concerns with the hotel, instead of acknowledging the issues, they suggested that I “left the electricity on all day” and that I could have checked out after the first night if I was unhappy. I had only left the electricity on so that the portable heaters could keep the room from becoming freezing again. At no point during my stay was I offered an alternative room, the option to leave, or any attempt to fix.
