"Whiskey Lounge with great soft couches! That was fun with a really knowledgeable lady serving drinks. Rooms were very clean and this older hotel still looks and feels comfortable and quiet. It's not made of paper mache so you don't hear everyone next door or in the hallway."

"At first we thought it was fairly clean but when I went to make breakfast I found a frying pan in the cupboard with rice and grease still on it. There is no salt or pepper or anything to make cooking a little easier while traveling. We had two big towels for 5 people. The master bedroom is on the main road and the sound of traffic is quite loud. It was expensive for what it is."

"We’ve stayed at Coast Bastion twice now and have enjoyed both of our stays. The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Nanaimo for exploring. It’s also newly renovated so the facility is really clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. We will stay here again the next time we visit Nanaimo."

"When we first arrived we got a terrible room, it was filthy and not at all like pictures uploaded online, my husband and I considered not staying at all as it was so terrible. We were moved to another room which was much smaller but noticeably cleaner and renovated to look a little bit more presentable. Still nothing too exciting and the other room had already put a bad taste in our mouth. We ended up staying and it was okay for the nights we were there but just based on the false advertising on...

"Room 407 just needs a better cleaning of the corners where flooring meets the walls and lights between the beds need a dusting. Beds really comfortable though."

"I was very impressed! I arrived very late. The staff had turned my room light on and had turned on the ac. I walked into such treat after a very long day of driving. Clean, quiet and restful!! Kudos to this place!!"

"We had a great stay! Everything was very clean and well organized, and they even provided some useful items for us to use. The ocean view was amazing and truly memorable. We’re already planning to come back again next year!"

"Lovely little motel by the ocean. The room was large, and the bed comfortable. The bathroom is small with nowhere to put anything. The location is great and the mini golf nextdoor was a fun bonus."

"The tile work in the bathroom needed fixing. To see all that water running behind the broken tiles kind of makes me think how costly is that repair going to be when the mold starts in."

"The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that there was only one comfy chair to watch TV, one watched TV in comfort while the other watched while sitting in a hard kitchen chair. This was our 4th time staying at the hotel. "

"It is a nice anough hotel.the rooms are functional. The kitchenette is pretty small and no real work surface.. There is a lounge with a tv and a coffee machine. Outside they have a small bbq area and some tables. It is convenient to the beach and walking distance to some restaurants(10 mins walk) It is a good reasonably priced option."

"They are undergoing renovations right now so the physical space is a bit messy but the room was great, staff were excellent, professional and helpful. Very convenient right off the Hwy 1 but the room was quiet Breakfast was predictable but completely adequate. For the price it's a good bargain"
