We have recently put our beloved accommodation back on the market to be enjoyed by our traveling guests once again! This retreat is a 2 BR, 1 BA, full kitchen apartment above our detached garage, with private guest entrance and surrounded by nature. Our Nest feels spacious but cozy and beautiful inside. It has a farmhouse feel with cottage charm. Clemson, GA and NC Mountains are close by. We are located in Foxwood Hills Resort with community amenities including a seasonal, Olympic outdoor saltwater pool, playground, tennis/pickleball and basketball courts, restaurant and bar, boat ramp on Lake Hartwell. Our Space

Vindstille Cottage Retreat, Our Nest, sits in the middle of a peninsula on the SC side of Lake Hartwell. Nature surrounds our serene Vindstille Cottage and now this beautiful carriage house retreat. We built Vindstille Cottage in 2006 as our personal vacation home and moved permanently here in 2016. In 2019 we completed the addition of this 900 square foot retreat for guests above an unattached garage so we could continue to have guests come and stay and take time to rest and relax away from the hurried life. Vindstille is a Norwegian word for calm or calm wind. This place brings a sense of calm and restfulness and a place to retreat and relax. Our retreat encourages low media time and more quiet relaxing. It is also in the resort community of Foxwood Hills, making fun activities easy to find. Many residents are retired and enjoy the slow pace this area provides. The resort amenities available to guests include a playground, tennis/volleyball/basketball court, a seasonal (summer only) Olympic size salt water outdoor pool. Pool guests will need prior authorization and host’s pool pass. The restaurant and bar are available for guests. Vindstille cottage has an array of fun seasonal activities. A fire pit is on the cottage grounds and guests can reserve a Fire Pit Nite and menu options ranging from weenie roast, S’more fun or a meal with all the above with our Cottage Chili. Hot cozy cocoa will be a new menu item available! Our Fire Pit Night has become very popular. Fire Pit Nites are free, but guests will need to purchase the menu items on our Cottage Cuisine Menu. Payments can be easily made through Venmo.
We have our retreat decorated for the seasons as well. We have it ready for fall fun from September to the end of October. Christmas is from early November till the end of December. A great place to celebrate the seasons and holidays, football games, apple picking, hikes and waterfalls, mountain towns.

We want your visit to be relaxing. We offer add ons to your stay or special events at different times of the year that you can participate in if you choose. We encourage family time and fun! Other Details To Take Note Of

The lake and the surrounding rural area can cause WiFi and cell phones to not have as strong of signals. However, we have upgraded our WiFi to the fastest satellite service we could find to make sure you have good WiFi access. We hope you can be as unattached to the fast pace world and instead enjoy some fun and relaxation!

Neighborhood Details

We are located off SC Highway 11 in Foxwood Hills Resort. We are nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Lake Hartwell border of Georgia and SC and only a short drive to the NC Blue Ridge Mountains and towns.
Taccoa, Seneca, Clemson and the Duke power plant are in our area. Rural drives are part of life in this area, that’s why we love it. Twenty minute drives to town is part of the charm of rural lake living.

Getting Around the Area

Traveling by car will get you to many of the fun destinations nearby. Seneca is approximately 15 minutes away and Clemson is approximately 30 minutes away. We are close to I-85, so going to Anderson or Greenville or Commerce, GA Tanger outlets is within 30 minutes to an hour. Clayton and Dillard, GA and Highlands, NC are within an hours drive. Orchards, waterfalls, state parks are a short drive away.
