"On arrival, we were shown to the "penthouse", a twin room on the third floor. The large bedroom light worked, but none of the smaller, bedside lights worked, so not great at night - totally or all nothing. Floor-space in the room was significantly compromised by a dismantled wooden bed-frame cluttering up the room. The toilet adjacent to our room was ok but we were told that the shower room was not usable so we had to use one on the lower floor (which was for several other rooms). My partner...

"Decent on paper, disappointing in reality.
The room looked fine in the photos but fell short in person. We were on the ground floor and arrived to a strong smell of cigarettes - the throw blanket had a burn hole in it, suggesting a previous guest had smoked despite the advertised £100 fine. There was pink staining on the shower floor and the only chair had a broken spindle on the back - when I went to move it, the top rail separated entirely from the remaining spindles and I had to pop it back...

"The hotel’s ok, very convenient for De Montfort. Breakfast was a bit of a scrum, but they were overwhelmed by the number of customers. Car parking is a bit expensive and convenient or cheap and inconvenient."

"The room was clean enough, maybe a little dated. We were on the ground floor, but on the side of the HGV parking bays and the exit road for the Services which was understandably noisy 24 hours a day. The room was unbearably hot, although there was a fan which merely moved the hot air around. The Reception was beautifully air conditioned and I considered grabbing a duvet and sleeping there!
Staff were friendly and helpful. But it is what it is - a hotel at the motorway services. It does a job."

"My nephew and I had to relocate our hotel from the Premier at the last minute due to a change in the date of the Leicester City game, so we booked into the Bell Gate House. Having seen some reviews, we weren't expecting a great deal, just somewhere to sleep. However, despite the unassuming entrance in a perhaps slightly rundown area of town, we were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel.
The room was very clean and smart, even included (a very slightly bashed) fridge, which we didn't use....
