'The Hideaway' - Tucked in the Beautiful Wet Mountain Valley.

'Enjoy the special solitude of our high mountain retreat. Access to the San Isabel National Forest is just half mile away, providing hours of exploring by foot or rental horseback riding, ATV, and bicycling. Enjoy the natural beauty of this spot at 8500 feet and in the surrounding mountains where you may see wildlife including elk, deer, bear, fox, chipmunks and birds of many varieties. Then relax in our comfort designed house.

This property is 1 1/2 hours from Colorado Springs Airport and 3 hours from the Denver area and Denver International Airport.
Short trips [under 2 hours] might include: To the north: Antiques in Florence, Golf in Canon City, Rafting & Fishing in the Arkansas River, the incredible Royal Gorge Park or fun in Cripple Creek; To the south: Bishop's Castle, Paddle Boats or Fishing on San Isabel Lake; To the west: The charming town of Westcliffe for groceries and shops, hiking and exploring in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, wonderful shops and restaurants in Salida and Skiing at Monarch Ski Resort; To the east: Old Pueblo, The Garden of the Gods, fine Dining in Florence or Colorado Springs.

If you prefer you can sit on the front porch or in the back yard and listen to the quiet, read a good book or try to count the million stars in the clearest sky imaginable.

Our stay at The Hideaway was amazingly quiet and peacful! My wife and I, and our two dogs, spent three days relaxing, taking afternoon walks and stargazing at this beautiful location.As we drove up the small valley to The Hideaway we stopped to take photos of the small deer herd and as we pulled into the driveway we were greeted by another small herd.The Hideaway was very clean and had all the appliances and amenities we could ask for. The stove and refrigerator were spotless and fresh and worked perfectly; making our cooking times so enjoyable.My wife commented several times that staying at The Hideaway was just as comfortable as being in our own home. The large windows in the sun and great rooms let all the brilliant sunshine in and enjoying an afternoon breeze while playing pool was fantastic!A quick drive back down the valley into Westcliffe was a great opportunity to see more deer and enjoy handmade chocolates from Lux and amazing sandwiches at the Dutch Pantry & Deli (we're always sure to visit both places any time we're in Westcliff).When we left The Hideaway we experienced a beautiful drive north on 271/143 into Canon City and had a great lunch at Big Burger World.Visiting Westcliffe is always fun and staying at The Hideaway made our short vacation even more special!

What a wonderful place. Excellent Communication, clean, and plenty of relaxation. It has abundant wildlife for entertainment, abundant stars at night, and a comfortable feel as if you have been there for years. In case you're wondering, my 2019 lifted Ram fit in the garage, tight, yes, but fit. Deer came up to the windows and we found big kitty tracks so watch your fur babies. Will stay again. My husband and I really enjoyed staying here on a little fall break trip. The place was spotlessly clean and well stocked, and the hosts are very kind and were quick to make sure our stay was as perfect as it could be. This VRBO has gorgeous views, a well stocked kitchen, nice water pressure with toasty warm water, a cozy wood stove that heats the whole house nicely, and all the basic essentials that you need on a trip. We had fun playing a few rounds on the pool table too! We loved the fact that this place is remote and secluded, it felt like our own little slice of heaven for a few days. Very peaceful and quiet. Just keep in mind the nearest town is 30-45 minutes away, and you will drive 7 miles of very well maintained gravel roads to reach the VRBO. We did just fine on the roads in October in our Ford Fusion. We enjoyed waking around the property with our dog, and hiking in the Wet mountains is a short drive away. Overall, I would highly recommend this stay to anyone!

Very quiet neighborhood, and VRBO is set a ways back from the gravel road via a nice long driveway! Felt very secluded and private. A wonderful way to unplug on our trip!

Everything was great! Very much enjoyed our stay! I would recommend the first time going to the house, make sure you go in the light of day! The road is very curvy and only dirt. GPS led me right to the driveway. Would love to visit again sometime!

This was exactly what we were looking for! A beautiful cabin out in the mountains away from the city. The night skies were clear and it was a good central point for all of our hiking and explorations. Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

This was our second stay at The Hideaway. It is a perfect place to relax. It is peaceful and quiet. The air is clean and the water is delicious. The Hideaway is very clean and very well maintained. The large loft is cozy and comfortable. Bathroom and shower are very clean. The kitchen is very clean and has everything that you need to cook with. The hosts are wonderful. The property is beautiful and big enough to wander around and watch the deer, rabbits, squirrels and many birds. Absolutely 10 out of 10!!! Definitely want to visit again as it is a perfect getaway!

Stayed at this lovely cabin for my boyfriend’s 20th birthday trip! It was a wonderful time!! This place is absolutely stunning and we can’t wait to come back again. The home had everything we needed from extra pillows to seasonings and confectioners. Our only complaint was it was extremely warm in the cabin and we couldn’t figure out how to cool it down. Other than that it was a wonderful trip!!(Pictured below is a pretty cool bug we saw on the porch!)

We loved the cabin. It technically has two bedrooms and that was great. Fully stocked bathroom and kitchen with everything but a steak!! So many games to choose from. They've thought of everything.....Beautiful all around. Quiet and peaceful. Loved having a pool table. About 30 min from Westckiff and partial dirt road. But all was worth it for us.Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Very nice cabin. Secluded which we wanted but not too far from Canon City or Slivercliff. Everything worked; all kitchen appliances, laundry. Even isolated from town, water was good to drink. Best supply of towels and washcloths anywhere we’ve stayed. About anything we might have forgotten was available; condiments, toiletries, coffee, etc. Wifi and tv was perfect. Everything as described. Saw deer about every day close to cabin. We had a great time.

The space and area are just as described in the listing. It's about a 20-min drive to access cell service, so if the internet is down, you're back in the 90s. :) There is a land line in the house. Our stay was so peaceful and the stars are amazing at night! Highly recommend!
