Kangastay on Vivonne Bay beside the Harriet River on Kangaroo Island.

Located in bushland next to the tranquil waters of the Harriet River. Holiday games, Television, DVD (CDs, DVD movies and cartoons are provided), radio/CD player. Wi fi free.
Open kitchen and dining area with microwave, gas stove and oven. Pantry cupboard with basics.
Very effective reverse cycle air-con. Cool in summer, warm in winter. Bathroom includes hairdryer and has an extra electric heater for winter. Back verandah has an additional laundry with tub (no Machine), and second toilet wash area.
Covered back patio area with 4 burner gas BBQ for easy cooking and a large outdoor setting.
Front veranda fenced so children can be secure at the front with two outdoor settings. Sleeps up to 6 people with linen included (A family, or 3 couples) 1 king size bed, 2 king single beds and 2 single beds. (2 toilets).
Undercover parking for one car available, space for 3 cars if needed.

Tourist Attractions include beautiful Vivonne Bay and the Harriet River. Only 30 mins from Seal Bay and Raptor Domain, and 40 mins to Flinders Chase (Admiral Arch and Remarkable Rocks.

Vivonne Bay has one General Store (that sells everything)!
It is 40 minutes drive to Kingscote. A car is needed on the Island to access the tourist sights. Kangastay is close to Seal Bay, Admiral Arch, The Remarkables, Hanson Bay Koala sanctuary. Little Sahara, Raptor Domain, KI Outdoor Centre, Parndana Wildlife Park, Kelly Hill Caves and Point Ellen headland.
Visit the beautiful "Rustic Blue" gallery for a browse and cuppa.

There are tourist maps, booklets and information supplied at the house.

Local Attractions are numerous. The house provides a comfortable 'home' to relax after travels and sight seeing.

It is possible to explore many wonderful walks from the house. We have a tame possum and there are many of Kangaroo Island's birds, koalas, wallabies, kangaroos and echidnas in the surrounding bushland.

There is boating (canoes can be hired locally), swimming, snorkeling, surfing and fishing.

The Harriet river is suitable for swimming and boating. (See the photos on the Vivonne Bay local knowledge page). Safe beach areas, snorkelling, surfing.

The river also provides good fishing for bream, and tommy rough right at the front door (40m). Vivonne Bay provides surf and jetty fishing for whiting, salmon, mullet and many other species.

Just across the river from the house is a well equipped Outdoor centre with surfboards, canoe hire and quad bike tours etc.

We loved our time at Kangastay. The location was great for our day trips and the house had everything we needed and a well stocked pantry of basics. Vivonne bay was beautiful and having the general store at the end of the road was great. We didn't get to see the possum but it was so nice to have food there to put out for him. Thanks so much for having us.

Everything you could need in a place with so much homey holiday history, in such a beautful part of Kangaroo Island. A hint for future stayz bods....write down the directions to the property AND the code for the key safe. I did save the directions but forgot to save the code to the key safe! Thankfully I remembered from Ros's message that there was ph signal on Beach Rd. So I had a short tour of the coastline until I found a spot with ph signal. Not that I'm complaining about being out of range of a ph. The wifi was great once I was inside. Thanks Ros... a special place

Didn’t find a bath mat had to use a spare towel only thing I would recommend is lighting from car park to steps there was little light things beside the path but did not shine any light . But otherwise all was good.

Lovely 3 days

My husband and I wanted to spend some time in Vivonne Bay as we had not stayed since the fires. Kangastay was perfect for us - very comfortable and we loved the evening visits from the wallabies and the resident possums. Our son in law and grandson decided to join us and Ros was very helpful with this change. Hope it rains for you all soon!

Great for us

Clean, Tidy, Good amenities. Great location. Kanga Stay was a great spot to start the day off from and was perfect to wind down. Kids loved learning to fish in the river too!
