Set in a pretty medieval village with spectacular views, this newly built modern three bedroom, two bathroom house has everything you need for a special holiday. There is a 6m X 3m (out of ground) swimming pool, gazebo, terrace and BBQ.

Vecchia Scuola has been restored and modernised to a high standard. The modern dining kitchen is very well equipped and has a dishwasher.

The main house has two bright double bedrooms and the separate sun house has the en-suite twin bedroom with sitting room area and glass patio doors with privacy blinds.

Set in the village of Sassorosso, with spectacular views, La Vecchio Scuola is an easy walking distance to 2 restaurants.

Garfagnana: Garfagnana is 'Hidden Tuscany' at its best. With its stunning scenery it is the best area in Tuscany for walking and outdoor activities. We have close ties with an Outdoor Activities company who offer many international class adventures.

Castelnuovo, the nearby market town, has many restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets and all other types of shops. There is a tourist information office and a weekly market selling a wide variety of fashion, household goods, flowers, fruit and vegetables.

There are many small villages within 5-15 minutes drive from the house. There's lots of restaurants in the area. This is a great base to explore Tuscany.

Mountain biking, hill walking and horse riding are all available locally.

There is an excellent pre-arrival shopping service and cooked meal service which we can help you access.

Barga is 30 minutes drive away, Lucca is only 1 hour away, Pisa 1.5 hours away, Florence 2 hours away and the Cinque Terre is 2.5 hours drive away.

The village of Sassorosso has been nominated as a world heritage village due to the unusual pink stone and marble used to build the homes and other buildings.

Within easy distance of the art cities of Lucca, Sienna, Florence and Pisa this is an ideal location for a visit to Tuscany.

There's an excellent restautany only 1 Km from the house.

Staying in Sassorosso you can visit the nearby natural park of Orecchiella and enjoy a relaxing holiday discovering the beauties of Garfagnana.

Only 1 hour from Lucca it is also excellent for visiting the Tuscan cities of art, without giving up the beauty of nature and the Tuscan mountains.

Garfagnana is 'Hidden Tuscany' at its best. With stunning scenery it is the perfect area in Tuscany for walking and outdoor activities.

The large market town of Castelnuovo is 12KM away, here you will find many shops, restaurants, bar/cafes and the nearest train station that links with Lucca (50 minutes). Other nearby places of interest are San Pelegrino, Corfino, Silico, Barga, the fortress at Verucole and Piazza al Sercchio.

Ein sehr schönes Ferienhaus in toller Lage. Wunderbarer Blick. Erholsame Ruhe. Sehr gute Ausstattung des Ferienhauses. Nach kleinen Wanderungen brachte der Pool eine angenehme Erfrischung. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Urlaub und sind bestens erholt abgereist. Vielen Dank.

Das Ferienhaus war toll. Das Dorf sehr abgelegen. Wer entschleunigen möchte perfekt. Gute Reiseziele Lucca und Pisa . Der Gastgeber ist mega freundlich und steht jederzeit zur Verfügung wenn was sein sollte. Das Dorf ist sehr hoch gelegen und perfekt für Wanderer. Super für Naturliebhaber.

Die Fewo wirkte nagelneu, alles mega sauber . Der Pool traumhaft bei den heissen Temperaturen, schöne Terrasse mit Blick in die Berge. Der freundliche Vermieter ist sehr bemüht u sofort zur Stelle wenn man was braucht . Das uralte Dörfchen ist sehr sehenswert. Das einzige , was für uns nicht so positiv war , dass man sehr abgelegen ist u für alles ein Auto braucht. Die Straßen zum nächsten Ort enorm kurvig u eng sind.

Wir haben uns rundherum wohl gefühlt. Alles war sehr sauber und der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Alles in allem ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir haben unseren einwöchigen Aufenthalt genossen. Die Einweisung erfolgte in Italienisch, was mir keine Probleme bereitete. Die Anlage liegt ruhig unter einem Ort, wo man mit einem normalen Auto nicht hinkommt. Zum Einkaufen muss man 20 Minuten Terpentinen hinunterfahren. Aber da ich ein guter Autofahrer bin (mit unserem VW T7) machte mir das nix aus. Aber verfahren sollte man sich nicht. ;-) Dann wirds abenteuerlich bis gefährlich. Das Restaurant in nächster Nähe (400 m Luftlinie) hat uns gut geschmeckt, auch wenn wir es alle nicht so gut vertragen haben. Im Dorf kann man gut und günstig an der Tankstelle essen. Im nächsten Ort Garfagnana sind die Preise wieder, wie man es von der Toskanan gewohnt ist. Die Ausflüge nach Pisa und Florenz dauern ca. 2 Stunden, weil es lange dauert, bis man an einer Autobahn ist. Wir haben es genossen... und könnten uns vorstellen wieder zu kommen. Der Eigentümer ist sehr nett und immer erreichbar. Ein Nachteil hat das Häuschen, also nicht das Häuschen selbst... in der Nähe sind früh morgens und abends Hunde am Jaulen und Bellen... so schlimm, dass man gerne die Polizei rufen möchte, weil man Angst hat, dass irgendwo Hunde allein gelassen sind.

Bij aankomst 20 Juli 2024 werden wij opgewacht en welkom geheten en rondgeleid. Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst en het huisje en mogelijkheden werden goed uitgelegd en of getoond. Zeer schoon en als nieuw. Overdekt terras om lekker te eten (BBQ) en betegelde tuin met ligstoelen, parasol en zwembad. ( BBQ rooster als nieuw) Keuken compleet en goed voorzien, 2 ruime slaapkamers en mooie ruime badkamer en de 3e slaapkamer met 2e badkamer in apart huisje er direct naast. Rustig gelegen, Sassorosso het dorpje, is erg mooi om door te wandelen, en op circa 1,5Km een restaurant waar je erg lekker kan eten. Pisa op circa 1 uur rijden. Wij als gezin met 3 volwassen jongeren hebben ons prima vermaakt en het erg naar onze zin gehad en raden het huisje (La Scuola Vecchia) ten zeerste aan.

Unser Aufenthalt war sehr schön in einer ruhigen Lage und einer fantastischen Aussicht.Der Gastgeber Leonardo war sehr nett, hilfsbereit und sehr zuvorkommend. Vielen Dank für alle Tipps. Bei Linda`s im Restaurant oder Il Pozzo oder suchen das Delikatessengeschäft war einfach lecker.Danke.

everything very good (after we found how to enable the heating), very nice "care taker" who introduced everything to us and was always available via Whattsapp. House really nice and well equipped, we had just 2 disadvantages which was cold wheather and you had to drive quite some time to reach supermarket/city etc.

Sehr gutes altes Bauernhaus in den Bergen der Toskana. Bei Fragen oder Problemen wurde durch den Betreuer Leonardo schnell geholfen. Dank Übersetzer funktionierte auch die Kommunikation deutsch/italienisch gut.

Très belle région. On ne s’est pas ennuyé. Possibilité de visiter les villes de Lucques et Pise et plages dans la journée. La maison est très agréable avec un point de vue splendide. Les propriétaires sont aux petits soin et la population locale très agréable.

Ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus mit tollem Ausblick. Perfekt für alle, die Ruhe und Erholung suchen. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht, modern und sehr sauber. Der Besitzer spricht nur Italienisch, aber die Kommunikation lässt sich mit einem Translator problemlos abwickeln. Wir hatten zwei wunderbare Wochen dort mit Ausflügen nach Pisa, Lucca und Carrara, langen Abenden mit gutem Essen und Wein und entspannten Tagen im Pool auf der Terrasse. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

After 55 turn arounds we finally reached this beautiful house, Leonardo and his wife. Sassorosso is a real small village at around 1.000m. The temperature in July is really great compared to 30+ degrees in the valleys around. The house is really great - there is nothing to miss in the kitchen or any other room. We really enjoined the pool, the terrace and the sun. If there happens anything, Leonardo will always be there and help. Even if he does not speak English and we do not speak Italian the communication was always easy and extremely friendly. It was quite easy to travel to Pisa, Firenze or Lucca. We would always recommend Lucca as Lucca is more charming compared to other cities/villages. Next bigger supermarket is around 20 minutes away - a Conad and has quite a lot of things you need. A Conad Superstore is around 40 minutes far away, but really has everything you could probably need. We really enjoyed our stay! Thanks so much to Leonardo! And sorry again for damaging the fridge!

Der Vermieter ist sehr sympathisch, war immer sofort erreichbar und zur Stelle bei Anliegen. Das Haus ist wirklich top und sehr sauber, alles sehr empfehlenswert! Kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Wer Ruhe und Erholung sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Der Ort Sassorosso ist sehr überschaubar, es gibt kaum Touristen, die Einheimischen sind sehr freundlich. Leider spricht niemand Englisch. Mit dem Google Übersetzer kamen wir jedoch gut zurecht. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet mit allem was man braucht und es wurde uns sehr sauber übergeben. Leonardo der Eigentümer kümmert sich sehr um seine Gäste, fragt immer wieder nach, ob alles in Ordnung ist. Bei uns fiel einmal die Heizung aus, er war innerhalb ein paar Minuten vor Ort und behob den Schaden. Die Aussicht die man vom Haus aus hat ist grandios. Das einzige was wir vermisst hatten war ein Café oder eine Bar im Ort. Man benötigt leider immer das Auto, um in den nächsten Ort zu kommen, in dem es eine Bar gibt. Wer es touristischer mag, der sollte unbedingt Lucca besuchen. Die Stadt hat viele schöne Gebäude und nette kleine Läden. Auch Pistoia ist eine Reise wert. Oberhalb von Sassorosso gibt es das Ristorante Albergo Linda. Bin Ein Besuch lohnt sich unbedingt. Tolle Aussicht, mega leckeres Essen und alle sehr freundlich. Alles in allem ein gelungener Urlaub mit leckerem Essen und vielen schönen Dörfern und Städten.

Magnifique séjour dans la campagne toscane,villa très bien entretenue,récente, bonne communication avec le propriétaire très sympathique. Superbe vue sur la montagne, à 1h-2h des côtes et des grosses visites. En points négatifs : manque d un micro-ondes et de petits scorpions toscans se baladent le soir dans la maison, mais inoffensifs, ça peut surprendre...

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Collemandina. The property was in excellent condition and Leonardo was very helpful with the check in process and also when we didn't have any hot water. The location is very picturesque and quiet. The only downside is that it is a little isolated. There is a restaurant near the property but it is probably a 20 minute walk up steep roads. We were very reliant on using the car to get everywhere when ideally there would be some amenities a little bit closer.

Eine wirklich tolle, saubere Unterkunft, mit allem was man benötigt für 10 Tage. Leonardo stand uns bei allen Fragen jederzeit zur Verfügung, wir konnten ihn einfach kontaktieren über WhatsApp. Auch die vorherige Auskunft von Molly wo man essen gehen kann, welche Orte sehenswert sind oder wo man am besten einkaufen kann, war eine super Informationsquelle für uns. Da wir vom flachen Land kommen, waren wir von den Appeninen mehr als beeindruckt und konnten beim Frühstück immer die herrliche Aussicht genießen. Wir würden wieder kommen.
