I booked a reservation at Comfort Suites through Expedia's App for the 2-3 of August on August 1st because my family was driving across the entire state (200+ miles one way) after work for a family emergency. When I arrived, no reservation was found for those dates, it was apparently reserved for 8-9 of August. Despite purchasing the Hotel Protection Policy, which said that even though the reservation was non-refundable, I'd still get my refund, I haven't received anything back. My family had to pay high prices last minute at another hotel that was farther from the hospital than Comfort Suites is. According to the Customer Service team at Expedia, Comfort Suites refused to respond to them for the longest time about my refund because of the Hotel Protection Policy insurance I'd purchased. When they did respond, they still refused the refund regardless of the Hotel Protection Policy because the reservation was originally non-refundable. I'm out an entire paycheck - a truly outrageous price for one night (check in on 2 and out the next morning on 3) - plus the extra expense my family had to pay at the second hotel, all on top of the stress dealing with the family emergency. There is a distressing lack of genuine customer service.
