Their phone number given in the website is not working. Could not contact them ahead of the trip, as there is no road side access to the facility and I could not contact them as their number was not working, I had to wait for an hour to get my luggage picked up. The room was not ready and they had not made any preparation for the room readiness, in fact they noticed of my resrvation after I reached there. No internet or TV was available.

Great position, friendly helpful staff, clean except for pool which was out of action for5 days and turned spinach green during cleaning process. This was a major problem for us as elderly ladies who cannot swim in the rough sea. We were counting on it for exercise and think we should have had a refund. Also there was no internet in our deluxe sea view room, no hot water needed to remove massage oil and no mini fridge to keep drinks cool as advertised in brochure. However we do like this friendly safe place.

Except the location and a few polite staff -The pool hadn’t been cleaned in months (cloudy, bugs, dirty) - Breakfast not served until 8:30am, every other place It starts at 6:30 or 7 am latest - No toilet paper in the bathroom - Towels were very old and dirty looking - Blankets had holes - Facility had no computer. The reception lady and the owner/manager used personal cell phones to take pictures of our passports for their record. He blamed Expedia for not providing him with our details. We told him it was not our problem as we had no issues in other places booked through Expedia; and we had paid money for the room anyways, which he knew but kept on insisting for providing more proof that it’s us who got the rooms booked while we were showing him confirmation email from Expedia. - Wifi only in lobby - Shower knob was broken - The water bottle kept in the room was warm and not even complimentary- which is fine but there was no indication of this fact. We already had our own water purchased and so never got to use that warm bottle. During checkout, we luckily asked and as it was Rs30/- for a bottle, we chose not to purchase.

Det sämsta hotell jag varit på,synd på så bra läge

Förstår inte att ni kan ha detta hotell på eran lista! Det sämsta hotell jag legat på! Hotellrummet Smutsig fönster (har nog inte blivit tvättade på flera år) man såg inte klart igenom dem. Provade att göra rent på två ytor då det blev rent. Övriga ytor såg nu äckliga ut. Balkongbordet var inte rengjort och behandlat på jag vet inte när. På den ena stolen rann det Kråkskit. Balkong räcket flagade färgen, stålpartierna var rostiga, fönstergallret var rostigt. Vet inte om balkongen blev städat överhuvudtaget. Nykelhållaren som reglerar strömmen hängde utanför väggen, sladdar och allt synligt, livsfarligt! Varmvatten fanns inte, ljummet, fick stå utanför duschen först och ta en kroppsdel i tagen så att man hann vänja sig. Ankomstdagen då saknades toapapper, andra dagen ingen städning av rummet,3;e dagen, saknades dricksvatten och schampo,4;e dagen ingen städn. 5;e dagen ingen städn. 6;e dagen ingen städn. sista dagen städn. schampo saknades. 4 dagar utan städning! Ville få en kompensation från hotellet och i receptionen sa ok och en manager i ledande ställning, till 2 öl eller juice per tillfälle.Vid utcheckning var jag ändå tvungen att betala. Transfer till flygplatsen ingick inte i priset? Förstog inte erat mail ni skickade, hotellet sa att det inte ingick så jag betalade det till hotellet.Att se personalen ligga i receptionens soffor tycker jag inte var trevligt. Har ni flera hotell i denna klass så är jag tveksam till att anlita er i fortsättningen.

Hotel Jeevan is situated conveniently right on the beach. We had a lovely room with a balcony. Went to sleep with the sound of the waves. Lovely early morning walks along the beach, spectacular sunsets. The staff were very friendly and helpful.there is a swimming pool and restaurant on site. Very relaxing holiday.

Right on beach

Very good position on beach with pool and restaurant. The manager was always listening to any comments we made and was always very helpful. This is India so don't expect white sheets and towels. They were always changed regular and room cleaned. But things like the shower head was missing and sometimes the linen would have small holes in them. The water sometimes was a very interesting thick dark brown colour and once run a little would be ok. The small fridge sometimes worked and there would be small power cuts. But the hotel has its own generator so would soon be back on after 1/2 minutes so no problems.

Disappointed that we did not have a fridge in our room aa it was 33 degrees amd we would have loved to have had cold water to drink! Breakfast was not good so we went elsewhere! The room was clean and fresh sheets and towels every day.

Nice location but not worth the price

We came late by one day after the (paid for) scheduled arrival date for the room. The room was NOT clean and had USED sheets, this was at 1am thus it was a pain to have to wait 30mins after 12hrs of travelling for them to clean the room and put new sheets. We had a non-refundable booking for 10 days at this place. The pool was undergoing a cleaning, for which the manager said would only take maximum 2 days. We did not get to swim in the pool at all during our stay! It was closed for the entire stay. This was irritating since the reason we booked this place is for the pool. There would be multiple times that i would walk into the foyer to find the manager sleeping on the couch (i have proof). This is not good etiquette for a hotel, especially for the manager of the hotel. There were a couple long (2-3hr) power outages which seems to be normal in this location. But i believe they were setting up a new generator to aid for future outages. The cleaning ladies are very nice and respectable, they clean your room only when you are in the vicinity so as to assure you of your valuables safety. I dont believe they even have keys for the rooms as i had to open it for them when we would need a clean.

Good hotel with pleasant staff

We have stayed at a number of hotels in Kovalam, and in our opinion this hotel is one of the best along the beachfront of Lighthouse Beach. The facilities are good, with a very pleasant and cleaned regularly pool. The staff are all very attentive and pleasant. The room was of a good standard with almost everything you needed, AC, ceiling fan, fridge, kettle and TV. The shower/toilet room was fine, only thing missing was shower soap and shampoo but at the price you are paying I don't think that’s a problem. The hotel is right on the sea front, so you can use your room facilities and still be back on the beach within seconds. There is no road along the seafront, so you have to walk along the pathway from the taxi drop off to the hotel, (it's the same for all the beachfront properties). We enjoyed our breakfast each morning, its Keralan style so would probably not suit everyone, but if want to pay extra you can get whatever you like from the hotel’s restaurant. We ate at the hotel a few times in the evening and it was very good, always very tasty and fresh. The staff keep the hotel very clean, with our room being cleaned and fresh towels and bed linen each day, not always sparkling white but always clean and fresh. For the price we paid there was nothing that did not exceed our expectations, and will definitely be back some time soon.

Nice location but excruciatingly slow service.

We stayed at Jeevan Ayurvedic Beach Resort for two nights and we were disappointed by the lack of cleanliness in the room. The floors were dirty and possibly had sand on them when we checked in. Bedsheets and blankets were stained and mattresses were rigid like rocks. The bathroom and toilet weren't the cleanest. Hot water was not available during the early hours of the morning (say 7am) but seemed to be available at about 11am. They have staff with trolleys that ferry your baggage to and from your car and room but they were ill-informed and excruciatingly slow. We had to wait at the car for more than 30 minutes and make a couple of phone calls to track the location of our baggage. We were told that continental breakfast was a part of the room tariff but to our surprise, only south Indian breakfast was served with toast, jam, juice and coffee. We also had to find the caretaker and explicitly ask for new towels everyday, which was a bit hard since we didn't know the language.

Fantastic Location

Because the location is great and they are busy the owners/Manger rest on their laurels to a degree. Downstairs Restaurant is very nice. Upstairs where the meagre breakfast is served needs a daily clean. Floor is filthy, bird droppings and cigarette ends, dirty table cloths. Grumpy old man with a couple of lads bring up ready cooked toast (cold) every day a bowl of hard boiled eggs. 1 Jug juice. Bananas. For Europeans that's it. Some Indian Rice dishes (cold). A little machine gives out white sweet coffee. No fresh Coffee or urn of hot water for tea. We took our own cereal and Milk up. Anything extra you pay for. They would be better not doing breakfast if they can not do better. Piles of dirty plates stacked at the top of the stairs. They did change our room after a few days as we never had hot water. Reception staff were very willing to help. Could do with more beds around the pool area.

Great Location

Location of this hotel was perfect right on the beach front in the middle of the lighthouse beach. When we arrived there was a slight delaying getting into our rooms but the staff did do the best they could to accommodate us. Jeevan is the only liscenced place to sell alcoholic beverages so if people wanting that much needed beer tend to head down here. The bathrooms weren't great and had to wait till around 9 if you wanted a shower that wasn't cold.

location very good

rooms were dirty had to ask for the toilet to be disinfected on arrival,i ask the maid twice to clean the room but it never was.breakfast menu was 3 dishes of indian food or fruit juice hard boiled eggs toast jam and bananas every day the same.coffee out of a machine had lots of sugar in it, one lady had hot water and coffee out of a jar so as to not have the sugar and on asking for some milk was told no chance (those words). i must add that the restaurant on the bottom deck which was open to the public was really well run and the food and service was excellent.but i wont be returning to this hotel but will eat in the downstairs restautant.

Just the job for a relaxing holiday

First time at the Jeevan Beach resort but have been to Kovalam several times. This hotel may be rated lower than some in this area but the staff were 5 star in their kindness and friendly nature. It is currently undergoing upgrading but this takes time and money but as far as a holiday hotel in Kerala this is a great place to stay.

Had a enjoyable stay for 3 nights with family. Food in the restaurant is expensive. Swimming pool is a small one and not useful. Overall good place to enjoy vacation with family and friends.

Disappointment

Poor value for the money. The Hotels.com voucher/receipt said ther was TV & fridge yet there was none. To get these 2 facilities I had to upgrade so cost was around A$90/night. This resort was not worth that amount. Same mediocre brekky each morning. Room was not cleaned for entire 4 days of my stay. There was problem with filter so swimming pool was murky green for most of my stay. Sorry but could not recommend especially at such high rates.

Bad

the hotel is in very bad shape. Its location is good, but the hotel itself is in need of major renovation. Kovalam is not a place to party, so one has to spend more time in his room (after 11pm or midnight, almost everything is closed). The family who is running this hotel are not doing a good job. They need to invest some money to make the place clean and confortable. All the workers are doing a great job and doing their best to help the visitors but they can't do anything against the bad management of the owners.
