"Great stay. Petty Harbour room with private bathroom. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Loved the private bathroom with shower and Native brand shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Breakfast was a definite highlight during which the owner Rob offered recommendations and advice on the local sites, stories, and jokes a plenty. Fantastic location. Would absolutely stay again."

"At arrival, once semi unpacked in our room the A/C didn't work. Had to change rooms and it was a long day traveling by car. Also A/C was not working through out the whole hotel. Very disappointing as it was on the pricey side to stay there."

"Wistful location and a beautiful room. Very large with a nice sitting area, decorated with a spa like touch. Very comfy bed, waffle towels and bathrobe. Local toiletries to make you feel connected to the area. Conveniently located across the street from one of the best restaurants in St John’s the Mallard Cottage. An authentic experience all around with a luxury touch!"

"Liked: room size and layout; easy parking and access; closet layout. Clean Disliked: room fan/ac/ heat was impossibly loud making it difficult to sleep- hear the tv or even carry on a conversation. (Room 406) -1 for that issue. Desk staff were unhelpful and not typical of my previous NL experiences. Over a 4 night stay, we engaged at check in/out and 3 questions - they couldn’t care less and were of no help."

"This is advertised as a hotel but it really a B&B -- but one that charges for any food. When we arrived we had no code to enter or get our key -- turned out the management had declined to send one. The young fellow managing the restaurant and check ins did a magnificent job sorting out the confusion and deserves high kudos. But the property itself is dark and ill maintained. The stairs were uneven and poorly lit, no screens on the windows to cool off the room, and a giant paint stain with...

"The staff were friendly and helpful. The property was clean and well maintained. I wasn’t expecting a kitchen in the room, but it proved to be very convenient. The only thing that I was disappointed in, was there wasn’t a charging station for my EV Hybrid vehicle."

"The hotel’s policy with Service Dogs directly goes against any known internet search in regards to whether Service Dogs are allowed. There is also a tremendous amount of garbage around the outside of the property (especially if you have a Service Dog/Dog)."

"The governor was a great place to stay, I’d go there again. I wasn’t thrilled with service in the pub even though I tipped. Maybe regulars are the most important people in there and I can appreciate that. Might need to spend some money on those booth seats cause they’re pretty worn. Other than those things, the governor as a whole is a good place."

"The hotel had good parking and check in was a breeze. Our room was spotless and the bathrooms updated. The TV was easy to use and lots of outlets for charging. The pool is not large but it is adequate and warm for children. Plenty of towels and seating there too. The breakfast was great - waffles, various kinda of eggs, bacon and sausages, toast, bagels, muffins, cereals, oatmeal and juices plus coffee and tea, yogurt, milk and fresh fruit.
