"The staff went above and beyond when we were running late to ensure we were able to get into our room. They even deep cleaned my room before arrival to assist with my potential allergies. It really made our stay wonderful. I can most definitely recommend! Only note to be aware is the bedrooms are upstairs and you need to be able to carry your bags up to them. "

"Extremely friendly staff, who were helpful throughout the stay, very clean rooms and all efforts made to make up for the lack of a kitchen with continental breakfast provided in the room. Quiet, and well organised, excellent value. "

"Lovely room, spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed Nice size bathroom with complimentary soaps, shampoos etc All rooms on first floor so could be an issue if you have mobility problems Royal hotel bar/ restaurant quite busy so would recommend booking if you want to dine in. Food quality was excellent and a great service given. "Nicely appointed room with comfortable bed, clean and modern bathroom (and power shower) with tea & coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a really powerful fan (needed in this warm weather). Slept well even though there was a pub nearby as it felt pretty quiet when the windows were closed. Smart TV was great as I could log intomall my own chanels. Only minor point was there was nowhere to hang up clothes - I think there was a nook for it, so maybe the rail was just missing. No problem...

"This is the second time we've stayed at the Mason Freehouse, it was lovely the first time we stayed, which made us keen to return. Although it is now under new management, it's clear that the lovely, friendly, warm welcoming atmosphere is something the staff are keen to retain. We're looking forward to coming back and staying again, as the plans for new menus sound fantastic. Room sizes and facilities are very adequate for a short stay. "I was left on my own, worked out great, planned all my excursions to the lake district, ate when i wanted, slept in the day, if needed. Bike was safe in car park. En suite room. No complaints 5* cleaner was friendly, too!"
