It turned out to become a nightmare on 11/12/25.
After we finished our dinner and headed back to the hotel around 9:30 p.m., a female staff member at the front desk told us that a hand towel was damaged. We were charged NT$200. I requested proof of the damage to the hand towel. A staff member opened a wrapped package showing a towel with some grey spots and told us it was permanently damaged. I asked him how he could prove the damage. Then he told us the charge was reduced to NT$150, as if he were doing us a favor. Since we had stayed outdoors all day and felt tired, I tried to avoid further argument over this ridiculous claim and paid NT$150. I also requested a detailed receipt. He handed me a printout showing “Damage charge, NT$150.” I told him it was not sufficient to clearly describe the damage to the hand towel. To my surprise, he told me either to wash it out myself or pay the charge, speaking to me with a dirty look.
I was angry. It was not just the towel incident. The staff member suddenly asked me whether I had accidentally taken a clothes hanger in my luggage. I had enough patience to continue speaking with him, and I requested to speak with his manager. Unfortunately, he told me he was the manager, Ricky, and that he was in charge of the front office that night. What could I do?
I faced unreasonable and unfair treatment in this incident. Based on my experience as a victim, I will never reserve this hotel or any hotel in their chain.
