"This is a very old, historic hotel so I came to it with some skepticism. I had some family visiting from the East Coast and wanted to spend a few nights in San Francisco and usually stay in the large chain hotels. I wanted to do something out of the ordinary and this hotel looked very cool. I noticed it was built in 1908 and started to wonder about amenities and overall upkeep. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the property, rooms, breakfast area and the butterfly bar. ...

"Recently renovated with clean linens, fresh bathroom and shower. Coffee maker in room refrigerator but no microwave. Conveniently located on Market Street in the Castro with reasonable rates and free parking. Street traffic contributes to noise, but each room has separate AC. No noisy gross window units! This lends to nice quiet sleep conditions. We have stayed there several times this year and plan to return love this place."

"I wouldn’t call this place a hotel. It’s a big house that turned into a guest house. Room was really small. Reception working only 9-5. Parking outside is impossible. I wouldn’t recommend at all. Very disappointing."

"I booked this hotel as a peaceful staycation for a Sunday and upon arrival I found out there was a day party with a dj, which would have been so fun to enjoy had we been informed of this happening, but we weren’t, so we didn’t get to enjoy. "The room itself was OK, but it could’ve been a bit more spacious. Toilet Doris clothes and the door knobs, etc. almost falling off rest of the hospital was pretty OK but I feel like the surroundings were not the safest. They could recommend it for a budget."

"This is a charming, older hotel in the Lower Nob Hill neighborhood (at least that’s what Google maps calls it). Spotlessly clean and very comfy. Small kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, sink and utensils. Plus a nice neighborhood market next door. And the almost new windows open for fresh air, although it’s San Francisco, so probably a little chilly most days. Great for those on a budget. Front desk folks are very helpful. Loved it…and the two elevators are a step back in time!"
