The Red Barn Guest House is a beautifully remodeled home with amazing details that makes this vacation rental truly unique! Sleeping 6 guests, this home has stone and ship-lap walls, walnut beams and ceilings, and wide plank flooring that gives it an authentic and upscale barn feel.
The main floor has a kitchenette with a stainless steel mini refrigerator, and microwave, and an induction cook top, crock pot, and toaster for eating in. Cozy built-in nook seating and dining table for eating leading into a lounging area with comfy couch for watching the flat screen TV, playing one of the house's board games, or just visiting and relaxing. Two beautiful custom barn doors divide the living room/kitchen area from the main floor bedroom with a queen bed and mesmerizing Opti-myst Fireplace. Also on the main floor is a full bathroom with a granite tile dual-headed shower, and closet with stacked washer/dryer.
Follow the unique spiral staircase up to the second story bedroom with a matching iron queen bed and double bed. A flat screen TV with Wii console, Wii games, DVDs and other toys will keep the younger crowd happy for hours!
The window upstairs looks over the spacious yet very secluded feeling backyard. A huge old-growth Poplar Tulip tree shades the green lawn, and concrete patio nicely. A little sidewalk leads to the side of the barn where a large private hot tub awaits surrounded by a tall privacy fence and lovely landscaping. The small shed in the backyard has plenty of outdoor games for everyone!
Between the Barn and Main Street, there is only building (the wonderful Magpie's Cafe), so it is easy walking distance to all the unique shops and restaurants Historic St. Charles has to offer!
The story of this historic barn makes it like no other home you've ever rented. Built in 1790's as a stable for the Second Commandant of St. Charles, Carlos Tayon, in conjunction with his home right next door. It is said that Lewis and Clark had dinner with him here before leaving on their expedition! Since then it has had many different owners in more than 200 years who have used it as a residential home, until we bought it and spent the last year making it into the exceptional space that we offer to you today!

We loved this little place. Hot tub was excellent. Place was very clean. Excellent location for shopping on main street. We were a little worried about parking since it's street parking only but had zero issue with it. Always had parking on the same block.

Wow great renovation on a historic barn. Great for our girls weekend trip. Just make sure 2 of you can get up and down safely on spiral staircase as there is 1 full bathroom downstairs. We did just find though. Hot tub was lovely and a nice raccoon would come check in on us both nights. We enjoyed walking to most the shops and eating at Magpies right next door. We also ate at bella vino sharing tapas and bike stop cafe has fresh food as well. Nice little gem. Would not do any more than 4 adults fyi. Owners responded right away when i asked about early check in. Thanks St. Charles is such a charming area.

Perfect couple's getaway

This little red barn ended up being a perfect getaway for us. The close proximity to Main Street St. Charles made it convenient for us to explore the many restaurants, bars and shops nearly every day we were here. The hot tub was a great way to end each day after we got done golfing or hiking. The downstairs bed was quite comfortable despite the very creaky bed frame/headboard. Overall, this house was a great place to stay for us and we would love to come back again someday.

Fun weekend at the Barn!

Spent this weekend at the Red Barn during St. Charles Christmas Traditions. The home was so quaint and decorated rustic but beautiful. My grandkids loved climbing the circular staircase up to their bedroom while their Papa and I enjoyed the fireplace in our room.So convenient to have historic Main Street practically right outside our doorstep!

Short Christmas Vacation

Our stay was great! The location to Main Street is perfect to enjoy all of the one-of-a-kind shops and delicious food options. We loved the layout of the guesthouse and were happy to enjoy the very clean hot tub on the cool evenings. A repeat visit has already been mentioned

Perfect location in historic St Charles

Overall this was a fantastic location less than a block off the historic street. Great for walking around and the backyard was great for relaxing. This is best suited for short stays with no real cooking needed but couldn’t ask for a better weekend getaway spot.

Adorable barn

We had a wonderful stay in this adorable barn. This was our second visit. We loved being located right in St. Charles. We enjoyed the table in the beautiful back yard. All of the beds and bedding were comfortable and cozy. The air conditioning worked great! It was super clean! We can’t wait to stay again when we visit family in the area!
