The Loft on the Square

Located on the north side of the square in historic Petersburg and conveniently located near Springfield and many Lincoln sites, The Loft on the Square is a beautifully renovated studio apartment which from its second-floor perch overlooks the 1896 Menard County Courthouse and the historic town square. The loft features a mix of charming character and modern amenities. The loft is available for nightly or weekly vacation rentals.

This luxurious nearly 1,400 square foot fully furnished studio apartment offers comfortable, cozy, and private accommodations in a quaint, historic setting. This newly renovated space features beautiful exposed brick walls, a tiled shower, a cozy gas fireplace, a private roof-top deck, and a birds-eye view of the lovely Courthouse square.

The loft is equipped with everything you'll need to make your stay memorable. Enjoy a home-cooked meal next to the fireplace or dine at one of Petersburg's downtown restaurants, stroll around the square to visit local antique, craft, and boutique shops, and don't miss the two nearby wineries and Hand of Fate Brewing Company located right next door to the loft. Enjoy street-side drinks & dining at Hand of Fate or relax in their beer garden (next door).

Enjoy a day at the beautiful Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site, just two miles away, or drive to Springfield where you'll find several museums and attractions, including the must-see Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

Your trip will be relaxing and enjoyable as we've gone above and beyond to ensure the space is equipped with everything you'll need to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and dishes so that you can prepare a home-cooked meal if you'd like. A coffee maker is available and coffee and tea are provided, a washer and dryer are available for your use, and all linens are provided. Complimentary wireless internet, AppleTV, and DVD player are included.

Aubrey was very pleasant and kind. The Loft is a wonderful location that we visit at least twice a year. So many fun things to do in the Petersburg area and Springfield is close and easy to navigate. The fact that we go back over and over speaks volumes about how we feel.

Cozy and Beautiful

A cozy and beautiful place to stay. Host was responsive to our requests. We really liked to character of the loft. There was plenty of room to relax. Petersburg is a quaint little town with good breweries and places to eat.

Visiting history…

The Loft on the Square is a well-crafted tribute to the historical days of Abe Lincoln with modern day amenities. Leaving much of the original structure exposed shows appreciation to the building’s bricks and bones. Local businesses also offer plenty to explore. This will be our go-to for visiting family and friends in the area!

Great stay in Petersburg

The room is very nice. Luckily It was the men of the family that stayed there and not the ladies. First morning there was an almost dead mouse laying on the stairs. The next day there was a dead mouse in front of the refrigerator. Obviously there is poison out and they are trying to control this situation but I will never stay there.

Perfect charming get-a-way.

March in the midwest can get a bit long so we thought we'd plan a little time in Springfield and finish touring some of the Lincoln sites we had missed before. Petersburg is just a short, but beautiful ride so when we spotted the Loft on the Square we went for it. And while the Lincoln sites were great, this sweet loft really made our time special. Well planned, welcoming lay out with everything and anything we could possibly ask for. Clean, comfortable and within walking distance to nice restaurants, shops and antique haunts. Brewery right next door made for easy entertainment! In particular, we really enjoyed the history and learning more about the Loft! Thank you. We will be back. (Apologies for the late review!)

Beautiful well-appointed renovated apartment in heart of Lincoln Land

Wonderfully restored second floor apartment well stocked with all one could need for a comfortable stay. Loved all of the antiques and the location on the Square. Enjoyed the local brewery and cafe next door. We would definitely rent again.
