Family Holiday Home on South Uist

The Old School House is a much-loved, family-owned holiday home in South Uist, sleeping up to 10 guests. Accommodation includes a super king, king, large double, twin, and a family room with a small double and an additional single bed.

The house has a family bathroom with bath and shower, a spacious shower room with walk-in shower, and two additional WCs. The comfortably furnished sitting room features an electric wood burner and a tuned upright piano. A separate TV room/library offers a 43-inch screen with soundbar, a large L-shaped sofa, wingback chair, games table, and an excellent selection of books, games, and puzzles. Beyond is a large games room with a full-size table tennis table, BBQs, and picnic furniture. Outside, a generous paved terrace overlooks the charming garden, with beautiful views across the Sound of Benbecula to the hills of North Uist.

Situated in Eochar, in the north of South Uist, The Old School House is ideally located for exploring Benbecula, North Uist, Eriskay and Barra. The celebrated Askernish Golf Club, with its legendary 18-hole links course designed by Old Tom Morris in 1891, is nearby. The islands offer endless white beaches, world-class brown and sea trout fishing, excellent sea fishing, abundant wildlife, spectacular wildflowers, and countless scenic walks. Visitors can also experience Gaelic culture, visit ancient historical sites, discover artisan crafts, and enjoy exceptional locally caught seafood including lobster, scallops, langoustine, and crab. Guests can also forage cockles and mussels close by and catch mackerel and sea bass from the shore.
The house is easily reached, just 20 minutes from Benbecula Airport and around 45 minutes from the ferry terminals at Lochboisdale and Lochmaddy. Discounts are available for bookings of four guests or fewer. Trout and sea fishing equipment can be provided by separate arrangement. Excellent Wifi.
