"Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Hotel staff are lovely, I feel sorry for them having to deal with my complaint which manager was supposedly going to contact me to resolve but hasn’t.. No mirror in bathroom, just the broken metal wire it should’ve been on. No hair dryer, iron, kettle or even any kind of cup to drink from in room. "We were visiting for a gig at Piece Hall and are so glad we chose to stay at this absolutely wonderful hotel on the outskirts of Halifax. From the moment we arrived the staff were warm, polite and helpful and this continued for the duration of our stay. As it was such a nice day, we sat in the beautiful garden and enjoyed drinks and food from the bar menu before heading into town for our concert. . Breakfast (extra) was also very good indeed. "Room was very clean and had everything we needed. Staff were very friendly and always willing to help. Plenty of free parking on site. The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent. Options for breakfast were plentiful. Would definitely stay there again."

"Everything about our stay was very good. Lovely clean room with everything we needed. Large bath with very hot water . Kettle with tea, coffee , biscuits etc , hairdryer and iron. Dinner was good and the breakfasts were freshly prepared. We enjoyed our drinks in the bar and the prices were very reasonable. Staff Lovely and friendly, will certainly think of returning. "

"Moved from the bull to the shepherds rest as an upgrade prior to arrival. Out of 4 rooms (party of 4), rooms 10 and room 4 no heating. The bull may have better but I’d avoid the shepherds rest. Also none of the TVs worked in any of the 4 rooms and Wi-Fi password not shared. A shame as the rooms were fine even if the showers are a little small. Place was clean and obviously has been invested in. "

"Food was great and bar was well kept. Bed was comfy so comfortable in fact I overslept! Such a good find, not overly pretentious just good quality, helpful staff and good food. Perfect for a business stop over. WiFi was also reliable."

"Really good location for the town. You can park on the garden street car park, you pay 8-8 and free over night. The accommodation is lovely, it’s clean and has everything you need. Breakfast was really nice and fresh. Would def return. The restaurant next door, is 15% off with your hotel door key. The burgers are to die for!"

"Staff were rude when checking in, the rooms hadn’t been cleaned. There were ants all over the desk in one room, and rubbish on the floor. I don’t know if they are also long leasing out rooms, but some other ‘tenants’ were noisy until around 1am running up and down corridors and shouting. "

"The room was bigger than average having a double bed, very comfy, also a 2 seater sofa, and a full sized wardrobe. Bathroom had a full sized bath, which is a big plus for me. Breakfast was continental style, very nice. Good bus links to Huddersfield Town and surrounding areas. Parking was plentiful. Just had to put your reg number in the registration screen at reception. Staff were friendly and very accommodating."
