Gite with pool, Garden Room near Estuary

If you want to escape and relax, you’ve come to the right place !

10 minutes from the Gironde estuary, La Vieille Grange is a cottage for 2 to 4 people located in Charente Maritime. It is surrounded by vineyards and rolling countryside, within 30 minutes of a nice beach with lots of lovely local places to visit and with easy access to the life of Bordeaux, La Rochelle, St.Emilion and Cognac.
The cottage is spacious (100 m2), independent (adjoining our house) and is composed as follows :

On ground floor :
Kitchen/dining room : fully equipped incl full sized oven, breakfast bar, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, dining table/chairs.
Living room : with Godin log burner, sofa.
Bathroom : bath.
Separate WC.
Entrance hall, with spiral staircase (quite steep !) up to :
On 1st floor :
2 large bedrooms although with some low beams :
Main double bedroom for 2 people, incl. sofa and aircon.
Mezzanine double bedroom for additional 2 people, leading to main bedroom
Outside :
A garden room/terrace with triple sliding patio doors, opening onto pool area and stunning views across garden and valley beyond.
Use of 11mx5m swimming pool - May to October incl. The pool is approx 1m in the shallow end and approx 2m at the deep end, with a diving board.
Dogs are not allowed in the pool.
Garden - approx 1 acre - incl boules pit and picnic area.
Whilst the gite is attached to our house, it is completely self contained and the terrace is divided to provide privacy.
All bedlinen and towels are included, apart from pool/beach towels.
COVID 19 : all heath measures are taken to fight the virus in accordance with the legislation in force.

PS : As you can see, we don't charge any fees for the cleaning. However, if the place is not a minimum clean by the end of the stay, we will charge 150 Euros.

We hebben erg genoten van het mooie zwembad. Het huis bevindt zich in een rustige omgeving. Heeft een mooie overkapping. Op de slaapkamer is een fijne airco.De eigenaren zijn zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam.We hebben veel in de omgeving gezien. Bezienswaardigheden zijn ongeveer drie kwartier tot een uur vanaf het huis.

Ein schönes Haus mit tollen Gastgebern

Der Aufenthalt hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Es gab eine herzliche Begrüßung und sogar einen Begrüßungskorb. Corinne und Olivier wohnen auch auf dem Grundstück, aber man sieht sie nicht, nur dann, wenn man Hilfe braucht. Sie waren auch sehr nett zu unserem kleinen Hund. Der Pool ist groß und sauber. Sehr zu empfehlen / highly recommended!

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit in Semoussac und in der Region Charente-Maritime. Corinne und Olivier sind die besten Gastgeber, die man sich vorstellen kann. Der Garten und der Raum um den Pool sind sehr, sehr schön. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, was für uns wichtig ist, weil wir gern kochen, und der offen verglaste Wohnraum ist super. Man muss allerdings wissen, dass die oberen Räume über eine sehr enge Wendeltreppe erreicht werden und der erste Schlafraum ein offener Durchgangsraum ist, eigentlich eher eine Galerie. Das ist auch richtig beschrieben ("Mezzanine double bedroom"), aber wir hatten das offenbar nicht ganz richtig verstanden. Unser Fehler! Man sollte sich also sehr gut kennen, wenn man das Haus mit vier Erwachsenen bewohnt. Nur, und wirklich nur deshalb der kleine Punktabzug. Insgesamt hatten wir einen tollen Urlaub in dieser wunderschönen Region. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Excellent séjour 👍

C'est la deuxième fois que nous séjournons à la vieille grange et nous sommes toujours aussi ravis. Le logement est d'une hygiène parfaite et comporte tout ce qu'il faut y compris dans les détails comme les filtres à café ou bien encore les épices ... et j'en passe. Corinne et Olivier sont des hôtes qui chouchoutent leurs vacanciers. Merci !

Splendid holiday home

We couldnt have asked for a nicer prpoerty in a beautiful area. The hosts were extremely friendly and hospitable, communication throughout the booking was great. Entspannter und ruhiger Urlaub

Das Haus und vorallem der Pool waren super. Die Vermieter sind total nett und man merkt gar nicht, dass sie nebenan wohnen. Ein toller Urlaub, wenn man Ruhe und Entspannung sucht.

Ein toller Aufenthalt

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Corinne et Olivier sind sehr herzliche Gastgeber, von Ankunft bis zur Verabschiedung haben wir uns sehr willkommen gefühlt, im Haus gab es sogar einen kleinen Willkommens-Korb. Das Haus beinhaltet alles was man braucht und der große Wintergarten ist super. Das Haus ist in eine schön ruhige, ländliche Lage eingebettet und eignet sich hervorragend für Spaziergänge mit Kindern und Hund. Die alltäglichen Besorgungen sind in 10-15 Minuten erreichbar. Die Anbindung an die Autobahn ist sehr gut und man kann in alle Himmelsrichtungen zu Ausflügen aufbrechen, Ziele gibt es genügend. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der riesige Pool mit Sprungbrett, der nicht nur zum Planschen, sondern auch zum Schwimmen einlädt. Hier waren Corinne et Olivier stets um den besten Pflegezustand bemüht. Die Gastgeber wohnen direkt nebenan, somit stehen Sie jederzeit mit Rat und Tat zur Verfügung, ohne dass man Sie als Nachbarn wahrnimmt. Der Garten rund um den Pool ist eingezäunt und bietet ausreichend Liegemöglichkeiten. Drumherum ist das Grundstück riesig und auch durch die Gäste nutzbar, weitere schöne Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten inkl. Hängematte mit toller Aussicht. Selbst Fahrräder stehen immer bereit für einen spontane Radtour. Für uns war es die perfekte Mischung aus Entspannung am Pool und tollen Ausflügen z.B. nach Bordeaux oder Île de Ré um nur zwei zu nennen. A home from home …. in the countryside

Sue & I have just returned from an idyllic stay at this property - our hosts were perfect, offering help/information/advice when asked ….. yet remaining in the background at all times. The accommodation is perfectly situated for exploring the entire Charente-Maritime area. A great many kilometres we’re driven, but it was definitely worth it. Blaye, Royan, La Rochelle, Jonzac, Cognac and Bordeaux were just a few of our destinations …… all were beautiful and oozing history. The local town of Mirambeau may be a sleepy place, but there are a couple of welcoming cafes to wile away the hours people-watching ….. plus, there’s also a couple of eateries for those evening meal treats. Regarding the accommodation ….. everything you could wish for is provided, and the 20m pool was used tirelessly by Mrs C. Anybody thinking of getting away to solely recharge their batteries, this is the place to stay. It may not be as well-known as the Dordogne, for example ….. but it has its own gems that are definitely worth seeing. Thank you, Corinne & Oliver, for a thoroughly satisfying stay ….. we will never forget it !! Dave & Sue June ‘23

Eine wunderschöne Urlaubsoase

Eine sehr schöne Ferienwohnung, die alles enthält was man braucht. Der Pool und der eingezäunte Garten sind einfach toll. Schöne Liegeplätze rund herum. Corinne und Olivier sind sehr sympathische Gastgeber. Es fehlt an Nichts. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Excellent accueil de Corinne et Olivier toujours très présents durant notre séjour. PS : Regrettons de voir Abritel relancer énergiquement le paiement du solde du coût du séjour plus d’une semaine avant la date d’échéance prévue dans la réservation.

Fantastisch

Hartelijk ontvangen door de eigenaren. Wij en onze hond voelden zich heel welkom. Compleet, schoon, gezellig huisje met een (omheind) zwembad. Echt alles is aanwezig. Het was fantastisch komen zeker nog een keer terug! Bedankt voor alles.

Absolutely amazing holiday

We stayed for a week really wasnt long enough! This place is amazing thoroughly enjoyed our time at the gite. The location is great if you are wanting relaxation and quiet or heading out into the local towns and is about an a hour or so from Bordeaux in one direction or La Rochelle in the other! Pool is great after a long hot day ! Corinne and Olivier are lovely hosts always theres with help and advise if you need them Would definitely recommend and hopefully return in the near future

Beautiful property!

We had such a lovely stay! The gite was very well appointed and comfortable and the pool, gardens and views were amazing! The property owners Corinne and Olivier were very hospitable and welcoming and helped us to find our way around the area, recommending day trips and places to visit!
