"Nice small hotel close to the beach, town and bars etc. Nice pool and bar area and food is good (we had to pay extra for breakfast). Ideal for a short break, the hotel arranged turtle swimming for us and can organise many other trips, also Spa on site. We had travelled from Tissa and first impressions here was that Marissa was very touristy and the route to the “secret beach” is a rubbish strewn dirt track, however once we settled in, we enjoyed the area."

"My partner and I travelled from Australia with our 4 month old boy for our first family holiday. We can say that this accommodation was some of the best that we have experienced. The property itself is wonderful and really does feel like you are staying in someone’s home in all the right ways. "Overall, this hotel is very average. There were a few positive and negatives. I’ll start with the positives. After asking for water and toiletries, they were eventually provided. "Great location, very close to the main beach, as well as turtle beach, parrot rock and the coconut tree hill. Plenty of good options for food on the main road right outside the hotel. Being close to the main road though makes it noisy during the day, as drivers love to blast the horn. The room was clean but also a bit basic. The bedsheets for example were too small for the double bed. AC worked well."

"Wonderful setting. We stayed in 'Pepper Cottage' and felt like we were in the jungle - but in a safe way. Best massages we had in Sri Lanka. Also the best breakfast - it was just so beautifully prepared. Location is set back off a main road - which you cannot hear - but this meant it was easy to walk to nearby restaurants."

"The location of this property is excellent. A one minute walk gets you to the main road where there are shops and restaurants and then cross the street and you are in the beach. The room was big and clean but unfortunately I had to change rooms after my first night there. The fellow that runs the place is friendly and super helpful. There are lots of stairs in this property but the owner takes your luggage up to the room for you."

"The owner is a CRIMINAL, tried to extort more money from us once we arrived. Doing some research you'll find he has a history of doing this again and again. Expedia don't do business with this hotel, and potential patrons, you are warned."

"Great location. A few meters away from the street. Decent size room , big bathroom. NO bed sheet to cover yourself with; only blanket. Very welcoming host. The kitchen on rooftop was great for the view but very filthy sink. Of course certain people do not clean after themselves. I recommend the maid cleans everyday. Overall great stay"

"Staff/owners are lovely and so helpful. Parked our tuktuk at the bottom of the short path (2mins to the hotel from tuktuk) Wifi great. We upgraded during our stay as we was originally in a double room with no AC. It was far too small and hot. So we then paid to move upstairs. The room had AC and was bigger for our cases. Area is fine. Food and beach nerby. "

"Really nice and clean room but everything else where terrible, dirty and very old. The staff was laying in the few chairs and there were no place else to sit, not even in the small garden. We wantet a quiet vaccation but it was noicy from the mainstreet in front. We decided to leave again after 2 nights even we already paid for more."

"There are 3 hotels in the Somerset group. This is away from the beach. Its up a very steep narrow concrete road. Its dark in the night and only 1 vehicle can go up or down this dark narrow road. The hotel staff are really nice. The rooms are a bit dated. The breakfast buffet was a joke as compared to hotels we have stayed in colombo. There was no buffet. Just a plate of fruit and eggs if you asked. Better stay is closer to the beach and somerset has a hotel right on tne beach"

"Sea World Boutique is a FANTASTIC hotel - we loved our stay there. The hotel itself is stunning (the pictures don't even do the beauty of the location justice!) but more than that, the staff are wonderfully welcoming, so friendly and it was a difficult day when we had to leave! Thanks to everyone for a brilliant few days in paradise."
