Fraud ALERT! We got on the plane and hadn't heard form the host. We landed in a foreign country with sporty cell service and then were told to download some third party app that was literally in Chinese and timed out after 5 minutes. The directions that were sent were wrong. We drove around for an hour. It's 10 pm and our 3 kids were tired. My husband and I were fried from driving all over looking for this place. We finally got to the area where the property was supposed to be but it had no numbers or anything. It was dark We asked the host to send a picture because the area were were in was sketchy. We asked the host to meet us and he refused. I tried a few gates but all we got were angry dogs barking at us. We called VRBO but they couldn't help. We felt unsafe and stranded and left the area. We ended up staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, which was lovely and had a delicious complimentary breakfast, BTW. They had one room left so my 8 year old slept on the floor. What a way to start out our vacation. This host should be permanently banned. He's removed the listing and will probably try this again. There were no refunds so we got bamboozled. Beware. I am happy to say that the rest of our stay in Costa Rica was wonderful....just not at this place.

Everything was fine. Quick note, use WAZE to get there...google maps doesn't know where it is. Comfortable stay. The hot water was out while we were there but for only one night, it wasn't an issue. Easy to get to/from the airport from here.

Not as expected

We rented this property because it is large, (there were five of us travelling), is close to the airport and we didn't want to drive far after a late night flight. It said it was three bedrooms and could sleep six. After booking, I was told that there would be an extra guest fee for each person over 2. I told him that the ad did not say that and that we wanted to cancel because the ad was misleading. He eventually waived the fee, but then told me that there would only be two bedrooms available for five of us arriving. The days leading up to our international departure I had no check in information from the host. I contacted him three days out, two days out, one day out with no response. I had to contact VRBO to see if I could get contact. Finally the day before we left he responded. He was very nice and gave me the information I needed. Once we arrived, the property was clean and tidy. However, there was a very explicit painting of a naked woman in the living room, where my daughter would be sleeping, which made us all very uncomfortable. If you are just looking for a place to stay for one night, it may be worth the cheap price and location, but it was not as advertised.

A Luxurious Stay at SmallLuX House, Alajuela

This was my second time staying at this location and as was the first, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, the convenience of its location, just 8 minutes from Juan Santamaría International Airport, was evident. This made my friends and I travel experience stress-free and highly efficient. The house itself is a haven of tranquility and elegance, boasting luxurious and modern finishes that impressed me greatly. With three cozy bedrooms accommodating up to 8 guests, it was perfect. The king and queen beds offered a restful sleep, and the additional double sofa bed in the living room was a thoughtful touch for extra guests. The two bathrooms were well-appointed with essentials like soap, towels, and shampoo, ensuring a comfortable stay. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of a bathtub or shower in each bathroom, providing both convenience and relaxation options. One of the highlights of the house was the private Hot Tub – a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the nearby attractions. The proximity to shopping centers, restaurants, and various local sites, all within a 5-minute drive, made our stay both enjoyable and convenient. The house rules were clear and reasonable, contributing to a hassle-free stay. The check-in and check-out times were convenient, allowing us enough time to settle in and prepare for our departure without any rush.
