"The property might be rated three star but the staff are rated five star in our mind. They were polite, attentive, efficient and engaging when spoken to. The hotel and the whole of Rutland we found to be really helpful and polite. It`s the way Norfolk used to be but is sadly lacking in a lot of establishments these days. Nice to see that hospitality is still alive and well in Rutland and surrounding areas,
The hotel is looking a little tired but didn`t spoil our stay any way, shape or form....

"Bit of a regular here always normal business trip but ideal if your on a break local attractions Rutland water but Oakham is a nice un spoilt town. All self service but if you want a meal the hotel sits above a lovely restaurant and there are places in town to enjoy a coffee or full meal"

"Lovely old pub with an accommodation block at the rear. Further investment would return this place to it's obvious former glory, but for the price we paid we were pleasantly surprised with the quality we received and would absolutely stay again. Interesting plumbing, seemingly hot water from both taps (?!?) only added to the fun. Lovely service, brilliant Indian food, great location. The village is well worth a stroll around. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay."

"Lovevly night away! Hosts made it so easy and hassle free. Room was very clean, had a peaceful nights sleep! Had dinner down the road in a pub called the wheatsheaf! Which was very nice!

The only issue which is symptom of old stone buildings was nowhere to plug devices in. Finally found a power board under the bed. But minor issue."

"A lovely country pub. The landlady was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of tea and coffee sachets in the room. The food was exceptional and the breakfast was amazing. Even freshly brewed coffee which you do not get in hotels. We were pleasantly surprised."

"No pin code was given to gain entry. Had to call number on email confirmation. Listing stated parking. In fact street parking or nearby Carpark isn’t the same. As a contractor can security is paramount with van theft. So was annoyed to find out that no private parking was available. Room was clean and tidy and warm. And cleaned daily. "

"Lovely country pub, with easily accessible rooms with motel-style parking. Only negative with our room (7) was the rain shower with a silly design, no chance of a shower without getting your hair wet - not always ideal for ladies! But nice with a walk-in shower! The cooked breakfast was great."

"Got a really good deal for an overnight stay. Currently building work going on but not to the detriment of the rooms or the food. A good nights sleep. No breakfast required so can’t comment but great shower. Lovely staff particularly Claire who ran around making sure we were looked after. Will definitely stay again. "

I only went to breakfast the once due work commitments but for a continental breakfast there was plenty , the coffee was delicious , no noise from the pub under the rooms would definitely return and recommend. "
