Findling on Lake Constance: private beach, sauna, fireplace, lake view, canoes

Your own beach on Lake Constance. Just a few steps between your coffee cup and a jump into the water.

In summer you paddle off by canoe or SUP straight from the property, sunbathe on the beach and grill while the sun sinks into the lake. In winter the barrel sauna, the fireplace and the double bathtub await, overlooking the still water.

92 m² for 4 guests on the UNESCO World Heritage island of Reichenau. Restaurants and the boat landing are a few minutes' walk away, Konstanz is 15 minutes, Zurich just over an hour.

THE APARTMENT
Ferienwohnung Findling occupies the ground floor of our house right on the lake: a large living and dining area, a bedroom with lake view, a kitchen and a bathroom with a double bathtub. Bright, generously laid out and thoughtfully furnished. Bed linen, towels and the final cleaning are included in the price.

SLEEPING
In the bedroom you fall asleep in a 200 × 200 cm bed to the quiet sounds of the lake, or let the evening wind down in front of the 55-inch TV. The second bed (200 × 160 cm) in the living room disappears completely into a cupboard during the day. So you always have a proper living room and never a bedroom. A felt curtain spanning the full width of the room provides privacy at night, though it does not muffle sound.

KITCHEN
Induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, bean-to-cup coffee machine, freezer and a good range of crockery and cooking utensils. You can really cook here, and fresh organic vegetables grown on the island are sold 500 metres along the lakeside path.

OUTSIDE
Two large terraces to choose from. The upper one, with an electric awning, has a large dining table, a small mobile table, two loungers and the grill. A few steps below lies the lakeside terrace right at the water, with a dining table and two more loungers, the best spot for your morning coffee. On the beach you will find two loungers, two canoes and a stand-up paddleboard, with life jackets ready. For relaxed evenings there is a fire bowl.

YOUR STRETCH OF BEACH
Your stretch of beach is separated from the neighbouring property by a low wall, so you have it to yourself. Occasionally a resident of the house uses it briefly to reach the lake, only between 7 and 9 in the morning and between 5 and 8 in the evening.

SAUNA, FIREPLACE AND DOUBLE BATHTUB
The private barrel sauna in the garden is ready for wellness evenings: after the infusion, barefoot back through the cold garden into the warm apartment, then the fireplace and a hot soak in the double bathtub. From four nights, one two-hour sauna session is included.

IN WINTER
The quiet season has its own charm by the lake: mist over the water, clear winter days, sauna and fireplace in the evening. The Bodensee-Therme spa and the old town of Konstanz are 15 minutes away. Some restaurants on the island close in winter. Open all year round are, among others, Café am Kloster, Hotel Mohren and Mein Inselglück.

FOR FAMILIES
A high chair and children's games are provided free of charge, and a folding cot (Hauck) can be added for €15 per stay. Childproof sockets, insect screens on most windows, and the terrace door handles are deliberately mounted high. Good to know: the lake borders directly on the property, with no fence and no supervision. Small children need constant supervision here.

FOR WATERSPORTS
In the cellar there is a large area where kites and equipment can dry, not something you find everywhere on Lake Constance. Washing machine and dryer are free to use. The garage takes bicycles, the SUP and paddles.

ARRIVAL AND PRACTICAL DETAILS
Self check-in via key box from 4 pm, check-out by 11 am, nobody has to wait for you. Fast Wi-Fi at 150 Mbit/s is free. Parking space and garage are free of charge, with room for two vehicles. Electric cars can charge at the KEBA wall box in the garage. A fan cools things down on hot days, and depending on the season you will find light summer duvets or warmer ones. The walls are painted with KEIM bio-silicate paint for a healthy, allergy-friendly indoor climate.

ADDITIONAL COSTS
Visitor's tax of the municipality of Reichenau: €3.30 per person per day from 1 April to 31 October, €1.50 from 1 November to 31 March. Arrival and departure day count together as one day, children under 15 are exempt.

Optional: each additional sauna hour €12, comfort package with bathrobe and slippers €5 per person, EV charging 45 cents per kWh, folding cot €15 per stay. Firewood: the first bag is free, every three nights another one is added at no charge, each additional bag €8. We settle the visitor's tax and optional extras directly with you.

HONESTLY SPEAKING
The roller shutters do not black out the room completely, and as everywhere on the island the Wi-Fi can occasionally waver for a moment. At times we as hosts and a long-standing tenant live on the upper floors. The apartment, terraces and beach, however, are entirely yours during your stay.

GOOD TO KNOW
The apartment is non-smoking, you are welcome to smoke outdoors. Pets and parties are not possible.
