Playa de Rauðisandur

I went into the Westfjords with 3 points of interest. Dynjandi, Latrabarg, and the beautiful beach called Raudisandur... Or red beach... For the beautiful red sand. The drive to get here however was the final straw for me. It was just as bad if not even a touch worse than my experience on the road to Latrabarg. I really don't know what I was thinking.... Well, I was thinking I had a goal in mind and set out to do it... But wow... I seriously thought I was going to die on this road. And being in the middle of no where with few other cars randomly present... No one would ever know!!! Seriously, so crazy. I did make it to the other side though, but then it got confusing. I really really wanted to walk on and along this beach... But was then starting to stress about having enough gas, and how long it would take to get back in order to catch the ferry over to the Snaefellness pen. ... So I managed to get this picture of the beautiful sand, but then turned around to do that stressful drive at a snails pace.
Tips though in case you go.... Once you reach the bottom of the mountain pass you go over the road will fork. It looks like you need to go right. If you go right, you drive along the beach but there is enough spots of water you can't actually get to the beach. You will however find a cafe with restrooms down that way. You can the walk really far from there to get to the sand.... Or to actually get on the beach/sand at that fork you need to go LEFT. You'd never guess it though as its then quite the drive around another ways to then get to the other side of the beach, in which you park and can apparently just walk right into the beach there. I didn't make it that far though, as like I said,I started to stress about time. I only allotted about an hour here which was a huge mistakes Id say allot at least two if not three to really relax, explore, walk around, maybe get a cup of coffee.it did look very unique and very very beautiful though, even from afar!
