Do you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life for a little bit? You can do that (and more) at this rustic-style cabin in Putnam, Illinois. Located just 2 hours away from Chicago, there is no place better to stay at than here. Just a 5-minute drive to the lake or the pool. Beautiful scenery, surrounded by luscious trees and tons of animals, like deer! Equipped with everything you need.

This was a perfect place and stay for us. 5 mins from the beach area of the lake. Great setup of the house. Owner thought of the details for your stay. Relaxing and fun. Everyone enjoyed this house and its location. The owner was attentive and had great communication

We had four adults and one dog stay at this property for a weekend. Overall we were satisfied, the property looks just like the photos. A couple things kept it from being 5-stars however. The refrigerator smelled of fish when we got there, discovered it was one of the produce drawers so we had to wash that out before we could use it, and there was so little dish soap there in the first place. Also, communication with the owner was a bit odd. I didn't see the message until we were checking out, but the owner asked why we had a tent on the back porch. Felt like we had been monitored, which was a little uncomfortable, because of that I'm not sure if we would come back to this property.

House was super clean and stocked well! We stayed with family and had plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The host was easy to reach and prepped us with everything we needed for the weekend. The lake thunderbird community areas are very nice. Pool was so clean and great for kids. Plenty of snacks and other things to do. We also stopped by the beach which was well kept. We brought bikes and used the ones at the house. Great hammock, volley net, fire pit, grill, nature life… we really enjoyed our stay here!

Our stay in this cozy, remote cabin in Putnam, IL was great! We had a fairly large group of people and we were all able to sleep comfortably. The cabin has two fire pits, a volleyball net, two hammocks, several bikes, and so many different activities to keep a big group occupied, so we never got bored. It was very clean and the kitchen had ALL of the necessities/appliances we needed! The beach and private pool were also very fun! Would DEFINITELY stay here again! (: Thanks again, Gerta!

We were in town for our oldest son’s wedding and wanted a place to stay that could accommodate our whole family. Gerta was a pleasure to work with and the home was exactly what we needed to spend quality time with our family!!

Spent 3 days at this home and everything was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms are good sized, the kitchen is well stocked, the porch seating areas are great. A family of deer visited every day. Wild turkeys stopped by as well. And the star gazing on the clear nights was awesome. Let me also say that one member of our party has mobility issues and she had no problem moving around the house. The first floor bedroom with a bathroom next door made it very easy for her to get around and enjoy this getaway, We were looking for a place to unplug and relax. This property was perfect for that.

My friends and I enjoyed our holiday weekend stay, cooking meals, enjoying fires in the fireplace and in the fire pit outside, and hiking at nearby State Parks. Clean, well stocked, and cozy. A nice quiet getaway only 2 hour drive from Chicago!
