Little Red Cabin in the Woods


Cares fall away with each bend in the road as you wind your way down south Highway 89 through boulders and forest. The cabin is 5 miles, 10 minutes, from front door to courthouse square. Psychologically, it feels further away as town gives way to the elements, mountain horizons, and starry skies. Settle into the small community of Ponderosa Park, altitude 5700, homesteaded 1884.

The cabin is intimate at 750 square feet, an open floor plan with high ceilings, many windows, two bedrooms, covered porch and fenced backyard. The design is simple, artistic, cozy and familial.

Many ways to fill a day: light a fire in the fireplace and share stories, grill on the back deck, swing on the front porch under cover of the rain, cook in a well-stocked kitchen, high-speed wifi and tv in living room, hike the surrounding Prescott National Forest and Indian Creek.

Or make your way easily into Prescott for amenities and amusement. Come sit awhile...

Minimum 7-night stay during summer months (June-August).

Winter Access:
It snows on average six times during the winter in varying amounts. Ponderosa Road is plowed and snow on the ground usually melts within a few days. Generally a two-wheel front drive will be fine for access, but following a heavy snow it may be dicey for a couple of days.

Enjoyed our stay at the red cabin

The cabin had everything we needed for our little family. We loved staying in the woods with a short drive into town. Owner provided thorough information about the property and its amenities. If you are coming up from Phoenix, I highly recommend driving through Wickenberg/Yarnell.

Perfect!

Cabin was cute and cozy. It had everything we needed. We stayed for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The front porch swing was so relaxing. Parking was tight, but manageable. Neighbors are close, but it was still quiet and peaceful. Beds were very comfortable! Downtown was about 10 minutes away and the lakes were about 20. Cabin was clean and well stocked. Backyard was small, but perfect for my dogs. Having a door from the bedroom to the deck/yard was very convenient. We saw deer, javelina and some beautiful birds. The only con of our stay was a prescribed burn which was a bit overwhelming on our last night there, but of course no fault of the host. Didn't have direct communication with the host as we had 0 issues during our stay. A binder of helpful information was provided and had everything we needed. I would absolutely book the little red cabin again!

Nice to get away.

The place was clean and very comfortable if you want to get away from the city. Nice fireplace, but the places in town are charging $8. for a small bundle of wood. Bring your own. We will probably rent it in the summer to get out of the heat.

We had a great stay in this very quiet, calm and relaxing neighborhood. It was the perfect get-away. The cabin is quaint, clean and the amenities are great.....just what we were looking for.

Anniversary in Prescott

It was great! This sweet cabin had everything you could hope for available for us! The fenced in back yard was perfect for our Sophie and made it complete! Will try to stay during the scorching summer next time!

Quaint and Comfortable

I immediately felt at home in this cabin. Clean, quiet, and everything you need to enjoy your time away. Just have to make a stop for your food needs before heading in (although going back out is a short drive - maybe 10 miles to Fry’s ((Kroger) - same for downtown Prescott. Great wi-fi and cell phone coverage, even in the forest. The photos accurately show what to expect. GPS took me directly to the location. When I want a little get away, I will be back.

Wonderful! Loved it!

It was perfect! Had everything we could possible need and was clean! Had to kill a few spiders, but it is that time of year. It was perfect with our dogs with the fenced yard. Will probably book it again next years dog show. Thank you soooooo much.

Quaint, cozy, and just right!

What a lovely little hideaway in the woods! Quiet, cozy, and comfy. We stayed in, and I cooked a few meals, and the kitchen had everything I needed. The beds are comfy, a/c was an added bonus, and the backyard and front deck were perfect for relaxing and for our dog. Town was nice and close but it’s still tucked away in the woods. Watson lake is gorgeous and such a treat! Mark was super helpful and very friendly! Will definitely stay again!

RED CABIN

Overall our stay was good. Cabin has good potential but a few things should be fixed. Bath tub/shower doors were not totally functional. Also we encountered ants in first couple days. We used repellant to get rid of them. The outdoor Grill was not useable--very dirty. Back yard fenced (good for our pups) but grass too long. Single lane roadway could be difficult for some vehicles.

Summer respite

We felt right at home at the cabin. We especially loved hanging-out on the porch in the mornings and evenings. There were many hiking trails in the area that we took advantage of. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wonderful Cottage in the woods

A Dog Friendly Cabin

The most important thing to me about this rental, it was Dog friendly. The one bedroom gave me access to the back yard. We were able to take care of any business during the night without disturbing our friend. My furry four-legged dog is just as important to me as family and friends. The property was easy to find. We were within 15 minutes to Prescott (Court House, Good restaurants and dog friendly).

Relaxing and Entergized!

We enjoyed the cabin so much. We really needed to get away from the busy pace of life and the serenity of the cabin allowed us to refresh. The wind blowing through the trees while sitting and eating meals on the decks was a nice treat. The beds are comfortable and its quiet in the neighborhood. This is our second visit and we look forward to going again.

All good except

Good place to stay if you want to be away from everything and relax, however owner wants to claim someone smoked inside and charge additional fee, but no one smoked inside what so ever. Enjoyed a cigar on the deck only, but smoking IS allowed on premises. We have a place there ourselves and have stayed at 13 other places and never had someone try this. Other than this trick to add fees the stay was ok.
