Great Spot but be prepared to wait

The house is cute and I liked the layout of the rooms because it felt more private. We were a family of four and a college friend. Easy to get around but everything is uphill : ) My biggest complaint was the communication. We reached out months early about check in and after a day they responded asking about timing. We responded to clarify and hope for an answer but then months went by. We sent 4 more unanswered messages through VRBO. When it got to less than 72 hours, we started again, contacted VRBO and found thier website email. Heard back after about half a day and they said they’d send info the next day. They did not. We were finally contacted by someone, with less than 24 hours to go. We were literally, in the car to the airport. Once Nuria made contact, she was great. Met us there, highlighted some activities on the map and the checked in a couple of times during our stay. In the end, it worked out, you just have to take deep breaths until the end. I would do it again.

Comfortable and good location! Loved the cafe just outside the door! Well appointed, but a few things were missing: a curtain in the basement bedroom, glass top on the night stand, no teatowels, dish cloths, dishwasher detergent

Lack of communication, inaccurate listing, issues with house

I wish I could give them a glowing review, since the house itself is quite lovely, but there were issues: 1. No communication from host. All my questions on VRBO platform was ignored. Three days prior to arrival, I had to escalate to VRBO that host was unresponsive and no check-in instructions had been sent. I was starting to think I'd been scammed. I was only able to contact them after VRBO provided phone number of the owner, who directed me to the management team. They claimed that instructions were sent to my email, but I checked and there was no email from them. 2. Inaccurate description. Laundry and washing machine is listed in the amenities, but there's none. I even texted the host the day before arrival and she confirmed yes, there's a clothes washer. There's none. 3. Another inaccuracy -- this property is listed as 3.5 baths, but the half bathroom has no door knob on the door, so you can't open it from the outside. In fact, the 2 bedrooms upstairs also have doorknobs that are falling off. One of my friends got stuck inside the bedroom since the knob fell off. Luckily, one of us was able to push in the door from the outside. 4. Lack of sustainability -- we had to buy hand soaps for each sink, paper towels for the kitchen since no cloth towels were provided, etc. In this age when we should all be trying to be green and sustainable, having to buy disposable stuff that will be thrown out after our stay is disappointing.

Charming old house

We enjoyed our stay at the Ivy House. It is very spacious and well located, very close to the river and within walking distance of most attractions. There was only 1 thing we didn't like. The bedroom on the pictures that has a stoned wall is on the main floor and is rather dark, cold and musty.

Great place just off centre of Porto

This is a lovely house just away from the centre but walkable to everywhere. Neighbourhood is safe and friendly. The owner arranged airport transfers each way, which were useful but perhaps slightly expensive. Lovely welcome from our hostess who explained where to go, where to eat, where to avoid etc and kept in contact throughout to make sure everything was ok. The place is a quirky layout, centred round a central spiral staircase but pointing in different directions at different levels. The property seemed much larger because of the layout. There were all the necessary facilities, everything nice and clean. There are a few niggly things that stops it being perfect but it was reasonably priced, and offers good value. The only negative comment I’d make is that, arriving late on a Sunday with no shops open, there was no welcome pack of basics like milk and water and bread.

Perfect Mix of Old and New

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The house itself is unique and beautifully restored, providing the perfect mix of the old (exposed timber and stone) with modern kitchen and baths. Felt very spacious. The host Carlos was responsive and even accommodated a special request on our arrival day. The location is just outside the core tourist district, but avoids the hustle and bustle while still being reasonable walking distance to all the major attractions. Easy access to the trolley for a trip out to the beach. Neighborhood is not polished, but felt safe enough and is a good option if you want to a more organic Porto experience. Overall, we’d recommend staying here and would definitely rebook. Thanks for a great stay!

Porto on the River

We had a wonderful time in Porto. The apartment was better than the pictures and we give it high marks over all. It is a great location. You cN walk across the bridge to port cellars and tastings and easily make your way up the scenic streets to the old train station with the beautiful tile and historic section of town. The apartment had so much historic charm, but has been redone with modern features. The only slight complaint might be the hard bed in the upper bedrooms. We highly recomend this place and feel you will mot be disappointed.

Noch besser als erwartet!

Die Wohnung ist noch viel schöner als auf den Bildern. Die Küche ist geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Zusätzlich gibt es ein schönes Esszimmer.
