Hey, if you’re looking for a chill beach escape, you have to check out our cozy Old Florida beach cottage, the Banana Cabana, down in Beacon Hill / St. Joe Beach! It’s this super cute one-story place just steps from the pet-friendly beach — perfect if you’re craving some downtime without the crowds.

Picture this: you’re sipping coffee on the screened-in porch, feeling that salty ocean breeze, or walking the white sandy shore with your pup by your side. Total bliss, right? Plus, there’s plenty of parking, so you can easily come and go as you explore all the cool little spots along the Forgotten Coast.

Inside, the place has everything you need — a fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, glassware, a drip AND K-Cup coffee maker (yes, we’ve got you covered), and all the essentials if you want to cook up something at home. There are two comfy bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, so you get both convenience and privacy. And after a long beach day? Kick back with your favorite shows on the Smart TV, hop on the high-speed WiFi, or toss your sandy clothes in the washer/dryer — super handy if you’re staying a while.

Just Right!!

The house is exactly as advertised. The side porch was the perfect place for morning coffee. Quiet neighborhood. The bathroom and showers are updated and very nice! The kitchen is updated with stainless appliances, but the house had the charm of a Florida beachhouse. Only about a block to the beach. We hope to return!

Snowbird Retreat

Very easy self check in. The property is clean and stocked with basic necessities. This cozy cottage is quiet in a safe and friendly neighborhood. There are two screened porches and a fenced yard for spending time outside. There is a small library to select a book and enjoy your escape! The beach is right out the window. Great walkability on the beach and around town.

Great Stay!

We so enjoyed our month at the Banana Cabana. Well equipped for cooking meals. Loved the walk in showers! Mexico Beach and Port St Joe are quiet hidden gems for relaxation and beach time without crowds. The book library was a bonus! Beds were comfortable. Quiet area with nice neighbors. Liked it so much, we are coming back!

St Joe Beach

Quiet neighborhood, close to beach. The Banana Cabana is the perfect bungalow with a good selection of beach chairs and everything you need for a day at the beach. Keyless entry is a plus. Awesome little place to relax and decompress!

Love the Banana Cabana

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this property. The house is clean and cozy, kitchen is well stocked for all cooking needs, and the neighborhood is quiet. It is just steps away to a beautiful, dog-friendly beach. We enjoyed riding the bikes provided, and communication with the owner was excellent.

Great little place!

We really enjoyed our stay. They had plenty of beach accessories from chairs to toys, even the cart to help you get them to the beach! Nice quiet neighborhood, very short walk to the beach. We also liked the screened in porches. Will definitely stay here again!

Just a Slice of Heaven

We had spent a winter on 30A in Blue Mountain in 2018. Took a trip to Apalachicola and drove thru Mexico Beach and St. Joe Beach. My husband made the comment that if we ever came to Florida again, this is where we would stay. Back in Wisconsin we watched in horror as Hurricane Michael destroyed the area. Early this year we were feeling the need for a beach vacation, so we checked this area again and were happy to see that it was coming back to life. We have spent the entire month of October in The Banana Cabana and we both agree that it has been one of our favorite vacations. The Banana is the quintessential beach cottage. It is not a carbon copy of the new, indistinguisable from one another, beach homes that permeate the area since the hurricane. Banana is loaded with charm and every possible convenience. We were able to prepare full meals without issue. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms modern and beautiful. There is also a cute little loft with 2 twin beds. There are 2 screened porches with comfortable furniture. One even has a porch swing! The porches became an extension of the living space. The yard is fenced and our pup spent many hours hunting geckos. There are beach chairs and a beach wagon to haul everything to the beach which is a very short walk away. We saw dolphins, pelicans and ghost crabs. There was a fenced in area where turtle eggs waited to hatch. The neighbors to the Banana were extremely friendly and helpful. Speaking of helpful, Lynn the lucky owner of the Banana, was easily accessible. One WEEKEND we noticed that there didn't seem to be any hot water. We called Lynn at about 10 in the morning, and there was a new water heater installed by mid afternoon. It will be difficult to leave here tomorrow morning but we have next year to look forward to. We've already reserved the Banana Cabana for next October.
