Calheiros: Rural house with relaxed and comfortable atmosphere near Ponte de Lima, quiet location, beautiful landscapes in different areas of the earth, such as the swimming pool, playground, romantic garden, parking and courtyard in front of the porch with the grill.

Cottage located in the heart of one of the most charming areas of Minho, in the north of Portugal. Holidays in a magnificent landscape and with many activities: excellent regional cuisine, sports with nature and the Atlantic Ocean 30 minutes away.
In the area you have lots of activities, such as hiking and biking trails, bird watching, golf, canoes, kayaks and fishing.
The cottage is close to Ponte de Lima, a country village with a good quality of life. There you have a beautiful historic center with restaurants, the Portuguese Toy Museum and shops. Other nice towns and villages (Viana do Castelo, Braga, Arcos de Valdevez, Ponte da Barca, etc.) can be reached in 30 minutes or less by the excellent road network.
Yes, there are places nearby to buy what you need. You can walk to some of them, namely to the bakery and the grocery store.
For day trips, the gîte is 30 km from the entrance to Peneda-Gerês National Park and 18 km from the Corno de Bico protected landscape. It is also 35 / 40km from the coast, where you have several blue flag beaches. The connection is mainly by highway.

Het huis zelf was netjes en had alle benodigde faciliteiten.De foto's van de tuin, het zwembad en de directe omgeving waren niet volledig cfm de werkelijkheid. De fotos gaven niets aan van het in aanbouw zijnde huis direct naast de property en gaven ook niets aan van het andere huis van de host/eigenaar direct naast het property. Beide liggen direct naast het zwembad en beperkten de vrijheid. Dit was volledig niet zichtbaar op de fotos. Bovendien waren de terrassen met trappen tussen de terrassen niet zo herkenbaar / open en bruikbaar als op de fotos aangegeven. Het romantische gevoel in de tuin werd zo wel wat te niet gedaan.Het (mooie) uitzicht over de vallei was wel goed.Ook de contacten, communicatie en support met onze host (Mei) namens de eigenaar Detlev was goed.Ook Detlev zelf nam vooraf nog netjes contact op.

Un vrai petit coin de paradis avec le jardin aux multiples facettes, les arbres fruitiers, la vue magnifique sur la vallée et Ponte de Lima. Au calme avec tout le confort et la discrétion de notre Hôtesse Mei.Une facilité d'échange avec le propriétaire Detlev malgré la distance.Toute la famille a adoré le logement et notre chien s'est éclaté dans ce beau jardin . Merci beaucoup.

We spent a dream vacation week, wonderfully relaxing in this stone house that exactly matches the photos and description; it is beautifully located. The house is fully furnished and equipped. We lacked nothing. All the appliances worked perfectly! The property is located among the vineyards, in a quiet neighborhood, and offers breathtaking views of the Lima Valley and the Roman bridge of Ponte de Lima. It is planted with fruit trees, oleanders, and olive trees. The owners, Detlev and Mei, who live in the neighboring house, are very helpful and discreet and gave us many tips. In summary, the house is highly recommended, and the area offers many activities (beautiful beaches, ancient villages, hikes in the national park, bike rides along the Lima River). Ponte de Lima is a lively little town with several restaurants and supermarkets. You will find everything you need there. A car is essential.The owner, Mei, is very kind, welcoming, available, and discreet. The house is simply magnificent, the view of the Ponté de Lima is sublime, the vegetation is incredible and there are plenty of things to do and see. We highly recommend this place, thank you very much, see you soon

Wir haben unseren Urlaub sehr genossen. Der herrliche Garten und traumhafte Ausblick auf das Tal und Ponte de Lima haben sehr zu Entspannung und Entschleunigung beigetragen. Dank des Pools waren die hohen Temperaturen gut auszuhalten. Insgesamt ein wunderbarer Urlaubsort - das Haus könnte allerdings ein wenig Auffrischung/ Renovierung vertragen.

Disappointed that pictures of garden did not reflect that middle section between house and pool was fenced off and included a property that the host lived in.Also no mention of building works on neighbouring property that was right next to pool with no screening.Really disappointed that property was described as quiet and romantic when really load music and singing regularly occured. Not a relaxing break!

Entspannte Ferien in Nordportugal

Wir hatten in dem toll gelegenen Steinhaus einen wunderbar erholsamen 3-wöchigen Urlaub. Das Haus ist komplett eingerichtet, geradezu üppig sind Geschirr und Küchenutensilien vorhanden. Wir haben gar nichts vermisst. Alle Geräte haben bestens funktioniert, auch Wasserzuläufe und Abflüsse waren einwandfrei. Die Dusche war 1A!! Das Grundstück liegt mitten in Weinbergen völlig ruhig mit sensationellem Blick über das Limatal und die römische Brücke von Ponte de Lima. Es ist bewachsen mit Obstbäumen, Oleander und Olivenbäumen. Der sehr hilfsbereite und gleichzeitig zurückhaltende Eigentümer, der im Nachbarhaus wohnt, hat uns viele Tipps gegeben. Insgesamt ist das Haus sehr empfehlenswert und die Gegend für viele Aktivitäten attraktiv (tolle Strände, alte Städte, Wandern im Nationalpark, Fahrradfahren am Lima entlang). Ponte de Lima ist eine kleine quirlige Stadt mit ettlichen Restaurants und Supermärkten. Man bekommt alles, was man braucht. PKW ist unbedingt erforderlich.

Verborgen parel op de berg

Prachtig huis, zake voorzieningen zijn aanwezig voor een geslaagde vakantie. Heel goede communicatie met Detlev. Heel verkoelend zwembad. Tuin heel goed onderhouden. Een aanrader om zeker terug te komen. Ook onze hond was er graag bij.

Ruhe und Idylle

Wir haben eine sehr schöne Woche in dem sehr geschmackvoll renovierten Steinhaus verlebt. Der Garten und die Aussicht auf das Tal und Weinberge sind sehr schön. Der Vermieter ist sehr nett und hat viele Tipps parat. Ponte de Lima ist ein sehr hübsches Städtchen. Man kann im Fluss baden oder auch den Jakobsweg ein Stück entlang wandern, der durch diesen Ort führt. Auch zu anderen Städten und zu vielen schönen Stränden ist es nicht weit. Nordportugal hat uns insgesamt sehr gut gefallen und wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Die Abreise ist uns sehr schwer gefallen!

Wir haben die Zeit in dem sehr gemütlichen Haus und dem tollen Garten sehr genossen. Als Ausgangspunkt um die Gegend zu erkunden, ob nach Porto oder zu dem Nationalpark, ist das Haus perfekt. Detlef ist ein sehr freundlicher und umsichtiger Vermieter. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder!

Sehr entspannende Woche, die Lage des Hauses ist kaum zu überbieten! Sehr zuvorkommender Vermieter, hat uns gleich unsere vergessenen Sachen nachgeschickt - DANKE nochmals dafür! Kleines "Aber": das Haus könnte ein bissl einen "Relaunch" vertragen (z.B. neue Pölster & Teppiche, neuer Duschvorhang im Keller oder ein wenig neue Farbe in der Küche). Der Hund des Besitzers ist allerliebst - wir wollten ihn schon fast mitnehmen :-)

Fantastic holiday in an amazingly beautiful area of Northen Portugal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this very comfortable and beautiful house in the pretty village of Calheiros. The house is very cosy, and does have everything one needs, the kitchen is well equipped, the rooms are bright and airy with very tasteful decor, and each have their own distinctive view. We appreciated the bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, which gave us all some space and privacy during our stay, and kept a cool temperature for the evenings. It’s true, the garden is a marvel, and one has to be there to appreciate the amazing views onto Ponte de Lima and the hills around. There are vines, bushes, flowers, and fruit trees which we could help ourself to, fresh fruit from the garden, and in abundance ! We really enjoyed the tranquility of this lovely space. The pool was just the right temperature, with plenty of shade too for those who need it and yes the views are stunning ! There is a large vine-covered terrace/parking for the car, which really helped on the hot sunny days. The location is perfect ; a 10 mins walk to the village café /store, and 10 mins by car to the town centre of Ponte de Lima. The town is set along the river and is very traditional, with beautiful old stonework and lots of history. There are little shops, cafés and restaurants , with lots of choice and the most part very inexpensive. Parking is aplenty and there is a very good, huge market on Mondays along the riverbank. The large supermarkets are just at the entrance to the town, along with a variety of shops for everything you could need. We spent an incredible holiday in this amazing location, and we would definitely go back to explore the area and benefit from this super gite and its location !! Thank you.

The house is situated in a quiet area outside a village and was difficult to find initially. The property has beautiful terraced gardens with a fantastic view towards Pont de Lima. The pool was very refreshing on the very hot days and also has the most amazing view. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The property is within easy reach of the coast and the mountains and also from the interesting towns of Porto, Braga and Guimarães. The local town of Pont De Lima is also very pretty and had everything you need. We had a wonderful teo weeks at this property.
