Experience the feeling of unbound freedom and tranquility at LAS VELAS BLANCAS, COSTA RICA, where we have blended the designs of nature with relaxed comfort, simplicity, and beauty.

Unlike any other in its category, Las Velas Blancas is located at the southernmost point of Playa Grande with one hundred (100) meters of beachfront forest facing the breaking surf of Costa Rica’s Pacific Ocean, surrounded by evergreen mangrove forests to the east and south.

The property boasts five two-bedroom/bathroom bungalows, a two-story beachfront lounge, swimming pool, poolside kitchen, dining area and living area and teak floor yoga deck.

This property features five two-bedroom bungalows with ensuite bathrooms, equipped with a fully appointed kitchenette with a refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, convection countertop oven, microwave oven, and electric skillet. All ten bedrooms are air conditioned, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The property can welcome twenty (20) guests in ten (10) bedrooms.

Prices listed are for ten (10) bedrooms in five (05) bungalows: two (02) bedrooms per bungalow.

Each of the five beachfront bungalows consists of two (02) master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a/c, a fully equipped kitchenette and a covered deck with living and dining area. Each unit has its own private grounds and beach access.

NOTE: For larger parties, along with these five bungalows, we can also open Casa Guayacan that sleeps up to sixteen (16) guests (please view VRBO listing number 1446872). The bungalows and the beach house together can accommodate up to thirty-six (36) guests.

The illuminated swimming pool is at the heart of the amenities area, with the main kitchen, dining facilities, living area and yoga deck on the east side, where a delightful fresh breeze flows constantly. Witness the silent beauty of the most spectacular sunsets.

A short five-minute walk on the beach takes you to the estuary, the natural barrier that separates Playa Grande from the lively surf town of Tamarindo, where you will find a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, shops, banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, night life, etc. Pangas (small boats) are always available to ferry you across for a US$2 per person per leg. The estuary is about one hundred (100) meters wide. The boat voyage across the estuary is about one minute.

We recommend our guests to consider our cook’s services. She offers a weekly menu with a variety of tried-and-true delicious recipes that she prepares reliably and consistently. The meals are prepared in the central kitchen and served at the poolside dining area.

Liberia International Airport is seventy (70) kms (43 miles) from Las Velas Blancas (about 75-minute drive, depending on traffic).

Tamarindo is twenty (20) kms from Las Velas Blancas by road (About 30 minutes drive). Tamarindo airport serves domestic flights.

Our concierge will assist you coordinating airport transportation, tours, activities, and rentals.

Maintenance staff reside in the property.

We just finished a week long stay with 16 people (7 adults and 10 kids, mostly teen boys) We had a great time! Staying in bungalows right by the beach was so awesome! A few things to know about staying here. First off it’s an adventure and more rustic than we anticipated. This is a pretty remote area. Getting into Playa takes about 10 minutes and it’s on dirt roads. We had considered renting a golf cart before arrival, but we were glad we didn’t because it would be a pretty dusty ride and no street lights. I think you would need a gas powered golf cart with the distance. Walking over to Tamarindo and taking the boat is easy but the boats shut down at 5:00. We didn’t want to spend the time traveling by car at night, I’m sure that works fine.We had the recommended chef cook several days for breakfast and dinner and we had Sher pick up the groceries. It was very convenient and the food was great. We found that getting groceries on our own wasn’t the easiest and expensive in Playa. We didn’t want to spend our time cooking or finding places to eat for every meal.Some things to know…there will be ants and bugs. Some bungalows had more than others. However after a day or two of us moving in the amount lessened quite a bit. WiFi is spotty away from the big kitchen/pool area, but we liked that so kids were not on their phones as much.The beach is amazing, the waves were perfect for boogie boarding and surfing. We made lots of great memories!!

Our host was highly responsive. The location was superb! It is rustic but comfortable for people of all ages. We ranged from 81 to 6 years old and had a fabulous time. The ocean was 83 degrees and provided just the right amount of waves for body surfing and our teens to learn to surf. The sunsets were otherworldly. The cook wonderful.

We had the best time at our Bungalow stay and already planning our next trip! None of our group of 12 had been to Costa Rica and didn’t know what to expect. For starters the beach and beach access was amazing! The teenagers LOVED surfing with perfect waves, sandy smooth beaches and perfect weather. The location was also an expected surprise as it took minutes to get into Tamarillo. We took advantage of the canal jungle tour where we saw monkeys, crocodiles and beautiful birds. We had massages on the beach in Tamarillo and all agreed that it was the best we ever had. Each day we had an event planned and everything we did was so accessible. Sher was amazing and was ‘on top of it’ with suggestions and bookings. We only took advantage of the kitchen crew on the last night but wish we used them more as it was delicious. There are very few beach front properties in the area. Don’t hesitate to book for so many reasons!

A magical, serene escape — Five Bungalows is a true hidden gem.Our stay here was unforgettable. The property is set amidst a lush beachfront forest, offering a unique combination of privacy, nature, and direct beach access. Waking up to the sounds of the ocean and birds in the trees felt like a dream.The five individual bungalows are charming, clean, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. The shared amenities really set this property apart — the swimming pool is beautiful and refreshing, surrounded by greenery and perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach. There are also plenty of outdoor spaces to lounge, dine, or just enjoy the natural beauty.We also took advantage of the chef and food service, and it was absolutely wonderful — delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented meals that made our stay even more relaxing and special.The host was welcoming, responsive, and made sure everything about our stay was seamless.This property strikes a perfect balance: close enough to Tamarindo and Langosta for dining, shopping, and nightlife, yet tucked away enough to feel like your own private paradise. Perfect for families, couples, or even a group of friends looking for a unique and memorable getaway. We highly recommend it and hope to return soon!

Magical Week at Las Velas Blancas

Las Velas Blancas is an amazing gem nestled in Playa Grande! Our group had never been to this part of Costa Rica and the accommodations and location suited us perfectly. The cabanas are close to the surf and the waves were perfect for both beginners and advanced surfers in our group alike. The property manager Sher was an excellent communicator both before and during our stay. We chose to have two meals each day prepared by her recommended chef and they were fabulous for our group of 17. We also had a few meals out in Playa Grande and there were some outstanding restaurants close by. We will be back for sure to this special place which fostered a wonderful vacation for our family and friends.

Returning guests, beautiful location

Our 2nd time to Cabo Velas w/ a friend group of 21 (adults/children). The group was happy to return to the epic beach and location. Unfortunately there were several hiccups this week that I do feel could have been handled differently.. There was a significant outage with no water (drinking/toilet/shower), no power, no Wi-Fi (impacted just one person who had critical work) from 8:30am - 2:15pm. We were notified of the outage at 8:25am by Kitchen team (not villa staff) during breakfast that it was going to occur - so no time to fill water bottles, use toilet, etc. We would not have minded the outage but Villa staff were aware ahead of time and did not notify. We had no drinking water, toilet, etc option for that 93 degree day. Again, the last year we were here an outage like this occurred but we were notified prior so we could plan accordingly. As well, a cabin's AC unit did not work for the first half of trip. We utilized the services of the culinary team (separate service that you pay cash for groceries/cooking/etc). The ladies remembered our group and again made the trip magical w/ delicious food and kindness. We had an uncomfortable encounter with one of the Villa attendants stating they were not documented, needed to travel, and needed money as they were owed wages from the Villa. This put us in a tricky spot to know what to do.. we paid over 10,500 for trip and received a refund of 145 w/ apologies. Unfortunately a significant service miss...

Ocean Paradise

My wife and I treated our entire family (14 total) of adult children and 6 grandkiddos, ages 5-17. The 5 bungalows allowed everyone to have their privacy and space. The main building allowed us to come together for meals, chillin, and pool swims. The few issues that arose were taken care of very quickly. The ocean was amazing and the highlight of every day! We will have many great memories for years to come.

Make Your Own Dream Vacation

This five-bungalow property was perfect for our family event. When you book this beautiful location, use the available chef for all your meals. You won't regret it. Alcira and her team are exceptional chefs, and the meals were incredible.The entire family had a wonderful time at this unique private location, steps from the beach on Playa Grande. You can see and hear the surf all night and day.If you are looking for a place for a big family and want privacy, do not hesitate to book this fantastic property. Why fight crowds and lineups at an all-exclusive when you can make your dream vacation here.

Great trip!

Perfect combination of privacy, convenience and service to make for a great beach vacation. The layout is perfect for couples, we had six couples, everyone had their own space and we all hung out at the pool, dining area and upper deck. Beach is amazing and 30 seconds away. Location hard to beat. Staff is exceptional and the host made it super easy to plan for a big group. All activities were planned well and stress free because of their help.

Incredible location for a wedding!

We hosted 32 of our closest friends and family at Las Velas Blancas for our wedding. It was over a year in the making and exceeded our expectations. The location cannot be beat - right on the beach but so private and still quiet. It's rustic and charming. Alcira (the cook) and her team were incredible. Every meal was astounding and so fresh. I highly recommend this spot for big groups of people, whether for a family reunion or a wedding like we did. So much space!

Perfect Location

Our extended family of nineteen (ages 5 to 80) enjoyed an unforgettable week at Las Velas Blancas. We loved the comfortable, rustic cabins, sparkling pool, industrial kitchen and spacious dining area, but most of all the incomparable beach. Staff were tremendously helpful. Alcira cooked us splendid meals. Manfred answered every query, no matter how small or redundant. This place is a Paradise!

Great Location!

We couldn't have asked for a better spot. We rented both adjoining properties and had plenty of room for our large group of 32 people. Manfred was attentive to all of my msgs and responded quickly. The chef service was delicious and a blessing. The only thing I would change is add more days. The grounds staff was wonderful and friendly. We had some of our people get stuck in Tamarindo when a rain storm came in and the water taxis stopped running. We had to send cars to pick them up, but this added to adventure. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about our experience. I would rent these properties again if the opportunity comes up.

Perfect property and location for a small wedding!

Hosted my daughter’s wedding on property and everything was perfect! Beautiful bungalows, foliage and beach. Originally was supposed to have reception at a larger pavilion, but it was being repaired. The hosts built a new 2 story pavilion which ended up working well as a back up location. Manfred was great to work with.

A perfect place to escape

This was our third visit to the property, but this was the first 4-night stay that we booked and organized for the occasion of my 50th birthday. We rented both sides of the property (bungalows and main guest house) for 36 friends and family. The process of booking and working with the team for meals and activities was seamless. Because we had so many guests, it was comforting to know that we had someone working with us to plan this event. We love it here. It’s familiar, calming and secluded, but not too far away from many restaurant and activity options. The new pool and indoor dining/kitchen area is an excellent addition to the property. However, it was a disappointment that the other pool and corresponding lofted patio were under construction and somewhat neglected due to the new area being open. We were happy to discover that the pool was still open and functioning, but the kitchen and patio was not usable by our large group of 36. The surprise did not diminish the fun, but it was an unwelcome discovery. Needless to say, we hope to be back. We’ve celebrated birthdays and a wedding here, so it’s a place that is very special to us. Thank you for your care and commitment to providing visitors with a wonderful place to escape!

13 family stayed and we had agreat time. There were space for us to all be together and have out own space when needed. Ferry to Tamarindo made it really easy to pop into town.

Marriage celebration

Manfred and his team are the most kind and helpful people. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We could have spent our entire time at the property and would have had no need to leave. They make food and all necessities easily accessible and provide access to activities and shuttle services as well. The recommendations were all perfect. The recommended catering service is fantastic and well organized. Alcira and her staff are delightful people and they prepare delicious menus for everyone’s dietary needs and preferences. What a wonderful place to visit and stay. I hope that we can return to Las Velas Blancas and Casa Guayacan again someday.✨💖✨🙏✨💖✨
