Rustic guest cabin set in the high country between Telluride and Ridgway

  • Situated amongst aspens and pines, and just 40 minutes from Telluride's festivals, The BunkHouse at Piney Woods is fully equipped for those who appreciate simplicity in a rustic setting. Complete with bedroom, kitchenette and bath, this cozy space is kept warm by wood stove and cool by the mountain breeze.

    The BunkHouse at Piney Woods is centrally located between Telluride, Ridgway and Ouray on a 10 acre parcel which also houses the main Family Cabin. The Family Cabin is occupied by the owners/caretakers and is situated across the driveway from The BunkHouse. Just west of the Dallas Divide Summit, the property is easily accessed from CO Hwy 62.

    The property is quiet and secluded near the end of the road, amongst a mixture of 5 to 40 acre parcels making up the surrounding "neighborhood." There are walking trails around the acreage and along the gravel roads in the subdivision. Property is forested with Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir, Gambrel Oak, and Aspen, as well as many wildflowers.
    Mountain views are of Hayden Peak, North Pole Peak, and Mount Mary. Wildlife are seen on the property and in the neighborhood. The property has horse shoe pits, corn hole boards, and a sandbox and swing set for children. It is a dog-friendly place. The BunkHouse at Piney Woods is a NO SMOKING property, inside and outside.

    The BunkHouse at Piney Woods is 510 square feet with one bedroom/living room combo; wood stove; separate kitchen with dining table and chairs; full bathroom with shower; private deck with forest view. It accommodates two people with one queen size bed and possibly a child on separate sleeping “bunk”. Guest parking is located directly in front of The BunkHouse. There is no cable or satellite TV, but Internet is available. A flat screen TV with built in DVD player is provided. The kitchenette is equipped with dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, coffee pot, electric kettle, microwave, toaster, hot plate, refrigerator, slow cooker, toaster oven, kitchen linens, and paper towels. Guests should plan to bring their own food, drinks, refreshments, and personal toiletries. Bath and bedding linens are provided.

    Situated within 30 minutes or less of Telluride, Ridgway and Ouray, The BunkHouse is remote but still makes it easy for festival goers and visitors to access nearby sights, shops and dining. Guests can easily enjoy the great outdoors of the San Juan Mountains by means of hiking, mountain biking, 4-wheel drive excursions, fishing, hunting, photography, etc. The BunkHouse provides an ideal retreat for persons seeking peace, quiet, and privacy in a beautiful mountain setting.

I really enjoyed my stay at this adorable bunk house. Marianne and Larry were there on the property to help me with anything I needed. I was traveling solo with my dog and although the bunk house was in a secluded area, I didn't feel alone. They have a very friendly dog named Dakota and we took both dogs for walks around the property. Everything I needed was there in bunkhouse. I would definitely recommend staying here for the location and the comfort. Close to Telluride and Ouray

This place was the perfect little get away. It was close to Ouray, Ridgeway and Telluride. The host was super friendly and made sure we were comfortable. We enjoyed chatting on the host front porch. There were lots of wildlife while sitting outside the cabin deck.

The views are grand and the property well maintained! Wonderful short notes of greeting from the hosts and super easy check-in. Ran 3 miles through the "neighborhood" of large parcels of land while in awe of the bare granite mountain parks that look like wood saw teeth!! 20 minutes to Ridgway,45 minutes to Telluride, Ouray, and Montrose.

Cute small cabin in an amazing location. The views from the place are great but the views leading up to it are breathtaking. Be on the lookout to see a large herd of elk mingling with the cows! The hosts went out of their way to be very inviting. Thanks Marianne and Larry for the cute ornament, that will find its home on our tree later this year!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Bunkhouse. Marianne and Tyler were great! Beautiful views, clean and the property was amazing, you had all you need and more. Bonus for being pet friendly. I forgot to write in the guestbook but glad we got to chat with Marianne before we left.

We had an amazing stay at the Little Piney Woods Bunkhouse. The cottage is the cutest and they have thought of every little detail. Larry and Marianne were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed talking with them. Perfect location to access some amazing hikes. Our dogs loved exploring the property. Would recommend to anyone. A

I loved the bunkhouse! It was a perfect home base while exploring the San Juans with my dogs. We will definitely be back. The host was very responsive. The tenants in the main cabin take extremely good care of this place. Thoughtful touches throughout. Thank you!

We loved everything about the Bunkhouse. It was so simplistic but had everything we needed. They made cleaver use of the space so that it was very comfortable and homey . So many thoughtful details; such as binoculars for birdwatching on the beautiful deck, umbrellas, a True Grit DVD, and rags to clean up the dog. There is a binder that has really great information regarding your stay. The hosts Marianne and Larry were so welcoming and helpful. Marianne gave us great restaurant recommendations in Ridgeway and Ouray. The location is secluded but still an easy drive to great destinations. We will definitely stay here again. I can’t wait to get back to the San Juan Mountains!
