You can rent snorkel or SCUBA gear at Splash Dive Centre, a little over a mile up the road, to explore the colors of the world's second-largest reef. Driftwood Cafe on the grounds serves up meals and fresh juice, while Above Grounds Coffee House is a few blocks away.

Vacation is your time to simplify, and a nap in the cabana's hammock is a great place to start. The screened porch is the perfect place to recharge when you're not out on the sand.

No wifi No deadbolt

This is the most basic a rental can get. So, at the VERY least I need the WiFi to be functional. Also, there are no keyed dead bolts to lock the door. Sharing because had I known that I would not have stayed here.

Carol's Cabanas

I have already submitted a review. Placencia is a beautiful unspoiled gem. The beaches are spectacular. Carol's Cabanas - Tarpon is located on the main st and very noisy into the wee hours. As it was very inexpensive my expectations were not high BUT it was clean, had 2 bedrooms, a kitchenette ( no oven) a screened porch and suitable bathroom facilities. Water pressure was low, hot water took a while and the porch furniture needs replacing, badly. The local Vacasa problem solver was at the north end of the Peninsula but once he came he helped with a couple of things, like how the safe worked - there was hidden key - and replacing a faulty outdoor light. Carol of Carol's Cabanas as a host was not very helpful, but did get the fix it guy to come. I'd use Vacasa again but this location was too noisy.

Disappointing. The directions via email were not effective, the listing description was also not accurate, nor was the welcome binder. Centrally located, but very noisy as screens had to stay open as there was no A/C. Unit didn’t lock without significant effort with the locks so unit was insecure both when present and absent from it. Good communication and prompt action when outside lights didn’t work (needed to navigate steep stairs - also not mentioned…) and WiFi not connection. Overall, not worth the price charges.
