Large clean room, comfy beds with high quality linens. We got the deluxe room which was very spacious, bright and has a large balcony. Only downside is that it is right on a busy road, but at night the traffic dies down and we didn’t even notice it.

Great budget location for exploring and hiking the park. Kitchen gets busy and was missing spoons (common issue in shared kitchens- we had our own so it wasn’t a problem, somewhat dated and mostly clean. Liked the easy self check-in as well. It was a nice place to stay. There were a few things a bit of a let down, damp wood, no fire lighters or paper, broken lampshade that was sharp, bedside lamps with no bulbs and power points that seemed not to work at all. Chilled-out place in a quiet little village — super peaceful and comfortable. Only 30 mins to Turoa and 45 mins to Whakapapa, so it’s a great base if you’re heading up the mountain. Great value and perfect for a relaxed trip!
